What have they done to Cadbury's Twirl?

Haven't had one for ages and it was midafternoon coffee time so I treated myself to a Twirl to go with it.

How has it turned sickly, chewy and greasy?

I remember buying them fro the school tuckshop and savouring each chocolatey bite, but now it doesn't even taste like chocolate anymore.

Can’t comment on twirls but can confirm that aldi has the best cheap chocolate around.

CodLoverOil · 18/09/2021 20:42

Sad to read this. My regular treat was a twirl (or two 😳) dunked in tea. This thread has reminded me I've not had one in ages. Think I'm better off keeping it as a happy memory now by the sounds of things!

I think it’s as gorgeous as it ever was 🤷‍♀️

I bought a pack of Wispas the other day and found the same. Hideous

As an aside. I treated myself to a star bar this weekend and it was literally the size of a one finger twix.
Gutted

They don't learn.

DappledThings · 19/09/2021 09:31

I can't tell any difference in the taste of chocolate now and 30 years ago

BalladOfBarryAndFreda · 19/09/2021 09:32

@GeorgieFlame

I rang Mondelez to complain about the change in the taste in their chocolate since taking over Cadbury. I was told I was making it up and no way have they changed the recipe. I still do not agree. What did they do to Milk Tray? Hideous
Yes, they’re a bunch of gaslighting bastards. Milk tray is inedible and has been for years.
FlorallyBankrupt · 19/09/2021 09:39

You're right @hugoagogo, Freddos are the only Cadburys product that seem to still have that original texture and flavour!

I don't enjoy a bar of Cadburys anymore, the texture is quite greasy. I prefer Aldi now as well, but I must say I still like Twirls and giant chocolate buttons!

YouTubeAddict · 19/09/2021 11:03

Cadbury’s has definitely passed its heyday. I’m trying to eat less chocolate but when I do it’s Lindt or Green and Blacks because at least they taste of something!

BunnytheFriendlyDragon · 19/09/2021 11:10

I hadn't noticed this but now you say and i think back to old twirls it's obvious!

RicherThanYew · 19/09/2021 11:10

Lidl white chocolate buttons really are superior to Milkybar but I do think the Cadburys chocolate buttons are still worth eating. Bring back the Drifters of my yoof.

BunnytheFriendlyDragon · 19/09/2021 11:11

I can tell the difference in creme eggs

LukeEvansWife · 19/09/2021 11:22

Wasn’t it as a result of the Kraft takeover? I seem to remember that American chocolate is different and that Cadbury’s were being changed more in line with that

hugoagogo · 19/09/2021 18:52

Bleurgh! I was excited about those cherry turkish delights, but they are grim, way too strong.

LukeEvansWife · 19/09/2021 18:54

Cherry Turkish Delight???????? The lemon ones were okay but cherry is my favourite flavour, I didn’t know they made this but I daren’t try it in case it shatters my faith in humanity completely
