I messed up my day 2 test - any advice?

Has anyone travelled back from an amber country as a fully vaccinated person, and if so have you had this problem and can advise?

People in my position have to take a "day 2" pcr test. This has to be purchased in advance and you have to register on the company's test site and put details of this on the passenger locator form, etc. I did all of this. I did my day 2 test at home and posted it, but I now know, several days later, that I neglected to follow all of the steps correctly and as a result I can't access my results. I know I can be fined, but what I'm wondering is whether I am supposed to take another test - obviously it won't be "day 2" owing to the delay. I can't find a help line to get actual government guidance. Has anyone else been in this situation?

If you did the test and submitted it then why would you do another one? I don't understand what you've done wrong?
No one is checking day 2 PCRs and it's a total con just designed to make money.

I wouldn’t stress. My results took over a week to come back and no one checked. We have family friends whose day 2 tests never arrived so they never did them, no repercussions.

No one cares or checks. Half the time these companies are total scams and no one gets any results even if they followed all the instructions to the letter.

Lynda, the thing I did wrong was technical which means I can't access my results, so I can't prove I did what was required of me by law. My anxiety comes from whether I will have to pay a £2k fine and whether there's anything I can do to avoid that.

Winter, that's comforting to hear. I hope there are more experiences like yours. I imagine they are focusing more on unvaccinated travellers

Thanks Lake, but I know that they do check up on unvaccinated people.

Our Day 2 test didn’t come back. I called the company and they first said they lost it, but 2 days later we received a negative result...nobody checked and there was no requirement to prove we had done it. It seems that you only need the booking ref number for the locator form, and after that, you’re good. I wouldn’t stress about it at all,

dudsville · 17/09/2021 13:23

That's reassuring Merlot, thanks!

5 of us from multiple households.
None of us were checked.

Auntpodder · 17/09/2021 13:26

Yep - I’ve messed up in the same way and the repercussions were zero. I did a freebie test at home to salve my conscience.

I think it's the opposite of comforting and the reason people are still dying. A new variant will have taken such a hold by the time they start checking. Let's hope you don't get any illness or injury unless you can afford private medicine.

We didn't receive our day 2 test until 14 days after we returned. It's still sat in the packaging and that's from mid august. We did do lateral flows and my youngest did a pcr all came back negative but no one has checked.
I have had quite a few called from random numbers, but I did pre holiday anyway, I never answer random number calls and there have been no messages left or texts, so I'm sure it's not important.

dudsville · 17/09/2021 13:43

Dragon, what I mean is I tried to follow the rules, but made a mistake, and it's reassuring to think I may not have to pay a £2k fine.

And thanks everyone else, I am feeling less anxious. I have a stock of tests at home so I did take one, and have tested negative.
