What do you love about your Apple Watch?

I’m thinking of treating myself but not sure if it’s worth it. I would love to hear from posters with Apple Watches what you love about them.

Thanks.

I love mine! Main thing is that it makes me move more everyday than before I had it, I’ve closed all my rings everyday so far this year and want to see it through! I’m sure a Fitbit could do the same but never got on with the one I briefly had.

Like that I can use it to find my phone when I’ve lost it in the house etc 😂

Like being able to read messages on it.

It also feels pretty nice to wear.

Xiaoxiong · 16/09/2021 23:33

I love using it to

track my swims (it counts laps and also can sense what stroke I'm doing)

Set timers while I'm cooking

Track my heart rate and calories burned during a workout

Senses if I'm working out or walking and counts my steps

Check the weather in the morning

Ask Siri stuff like "what is 350 Fahrenheit in gas marks" or "4oz in grams" or "weight of one cup of flour" when baking from American recipes

It buzzes on my wrist if I need to turn when I'm following the sat nav

I can control a podcast or music from my watch rather than pulling out my phone

I get my messages on it while cycling so no temptation to check my phone

noblegiraffe · 16/09/2021 23:38

Best thing is I can use it to ping my phone so I can find it without having to ring it, or I can easily check I’ve got it with me.

The exercise rings have really motivated me to move more and exercise more.

I use the weather app so often it’s on my main watch screen

The voice recognition is really good so you can easily send text messages from it.

Topsyandtimison37 · 16/09/2021 23:40

The timer. I use as a drinking reminder !

cheapskatemum · 16/09/2021 23:50

Yeah, like others, the ping to find my phone.

Iwantcollarbones · 16/09/2021 23:56

I love so many things about my Apple Watch. I love how I can skip tracks when listening to music.
I love that I can use it for Apple Pay. I haven’t taken my purse out with me ever since I set it up.

I also love that it unlocks my Mac when return to my desk.

And I love that I can send messages through it. Usually when I’ve locked myself out taking the bins out. I can get someone to come open the door without upsetting the dog.

The walkie talkie thing is fun too. I can talk to my dd through her Apple Watch (she lives abroad).

The sports tracker is really helpful too

Tippytaps · 17/09/2021 00:00

All of the above and Apple Pay’s express travel setting. Means I can wave my wrist at the ticket barriers or the bus machine and I’m buzzed through - no clicking or scrolling and juggling bags between hands.

PleaseReferToMeAsBritneySpears · 17/09/2021 00:04

It detects when I'm washing my hands and counts down 20 seconds then congratulates me!

If my phone needs Face ID but I'm wearing a face mask, my watch unlocks my phone.

I can use it for Apple Pay so I don't need to get out my wallet or my phone.

The mic can be permanently on so you just say "set alarm for 15 minutes" and it will.

The wake up alarm is nice and gentle.

It takes regular SpO2 readings. I have asthma so like yo keep an eye on this.

It shows the image from my ring doorbell.

You can pop it on a water setting, so it doesn't think the water is swiping the screen. You can then force water out of the holes using a sonic wave thing (not sure if technical term!)

It can help you find a lost phone by getting the phone to make a noise even if it's on silent. I use this a LOT.

Its screen is as good as an iPhone screen for touch. My Fitbits were shit in this regard.

You can answer phone calls on it and talk using it.

As far as I can tell, it will support any app. All the usuals like activity, sleep, texts, emails, phone calls, weather, calendar, but also Spotify, Shazam, ECG, SpO2, photos, remote camera trigger, plane finder, London Underground map, find my friends, ring go parking...!

I've only had it three weeks (the 6) so I'm still learning, but I bloody love it!

1stWorldProblems · 17/09/2021 00:07

As an Android user I found the Amazfit GTS2 via TechRadar reviews. It also works with Apple as it uses an app - worth a look at it's considerably cheaper than an Apple Watch but did almost all the same stuff & looks good.

minniemoll · 17/09/2021 00:31

I love being able to pay with mine, I hardly ever even take my purse out with me these days. I also use it to find my phone a lot, and the timer is great. Being able to see texts and emails come in is useful, I can see instantly whether I need to pick my phone up or not. And controlling music is great too.

CraftMaker · 17/09/2021 00:53

@PleaseReferToMeAsBritneySpears May I ask why you bought the 6 instead of the SE?
@PleaseReferToMeAsBritneySpears May I ask why you bought the 6 instead of the SE?
Yeah, I wanted the always on display and the SpO2 monitor, both only available with the 6.

TheMawisbraw · 17/09/2021 01:10

Everything ! The fact I can wear it swimming and it records my laps, the timer app that I have set to the Home Screen for cooking, the calculator on Home Screen for work, the weather app for horses, answering and making calls when I’ve not got my phone on me, checking the ring doorbell, the heart app when im panicking and thinking I’m on my way out, my favourite is probably when I’m lying on my lilo in my hot tub I can have my phone charging in the house and I can have my wireless headphones headband on and be able to control what podcasts I’m listening to, a bit niche but I love it

TheMawisbraw · 17/09/2021 01:13

Forgot I also use the Tesco Clubcard in the wallet on it, brings up the qr code. Honestly it blows my mind and I’m always raving about it to everyone and anyone

CraftMaker · 17/09/2021 01:13

@TheMawisbraw I didn't know they had calculators! That would be so useful. May I ask which model you have? And is it fiddly to use?

OP posts:
PleaseReferToMeAsBritneySpears · 17/09/2021 09:49

The calculator is fab. I've used it so many times already. If for example I'm on my banking app on my phone and I need the calculator, I can use my watch instead of clicking between apps and having to log back in to the banking app.

PleaseReferToMeAsBritneySpears · 17/09/2021 09:50

Obvs is smaller but I'm amazed I've not yet mistyped.

CraftMaker · 17/09/2021 12:11

@PleaseReferToMeAsBritneySpears Do you have the 40 or 44 mm?

OP posts:
PleaseReferToMeAsBritneySpears · 17/09/2021 12:28

The 40mm because I have small wrists and hands. I had a bigger Fitbit and it was too big and uncomfortable. You can try both on in store.

Pearbear · 17/09/2021 12:30

I love being able to make and answer calls without using my phone just having it around the house.
The heart beats and ecg function are great. Being able to record different exercises and see the breakdown of it is handy.

DobbleDobble · 17/09/2021 13:11

I’m late to the party too on getting an Apple Watch ( purchased 5 weeks ago) .
But same as every op above, lots of little functions on it.
Buy it you won’t regret it.

Fluffypastelslippers · 17/09/2021 13:18

I hardly use mine. The battery life is abysmal. So much so that I stopped the text/call notifications as it just drained so quickly. The 'ping' to your phone - we all have iPhones so I can ask DH or the DC to ping for me, although its usually DS18 asking me to ping his! Also I can do it from my iPad so the watch brings no benefit.

Nuffaluff · 17/09/2021 14:05

I like the fact it records exercises like bodypump and yoga.
My old Fitbit wouldn’t even register exercise when I was doing these. This was particularly annoying for bodypump as I would be completely knackered afterwards!
I like trying to close the rings and you get cute little badges. I find I can get a little too obsessed with closing the rings though, so I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone who had problems with obsessive exercise.

Pissinthepottyplease · 17/09/2021 14:40

Do they all track your swimming or just a certain model? I think I -need- want one
Foxyloxy1plus1 · 17/09/2021 16:35

I use it to pay in shops.
