Disneyland paris for xmas?!

Has anyone been to dlp over xmas? How crazy an idea is it?

I would have older children (13 and 11!) But they love rides and love Merlin. They went when small and are keen to go back.

Realistically we cant see how we can before then. Husband works in a uni and only gets 2 weeks at xmas/no half terms.
We could do early july next year but my daughter has a condition that means she struggles with heat.

Id like to go term-time Oct-March but kust can't see how.

So xmas term time.... crowds!?!? Queues!?!? We'd have whatever their version of a disability pass is...

Is it lovely or really for littlies...

Does it pour with rain...

We always go when we have in service days late November. I won’t go any other time as I just love the Christmas decor and parades etc. Just magic and the parks are quiet then.

Won’t be going for a few years as I like the DLH and would rather do 2 nights there than 4 elsewhere.

Love DLP, we went between Christmas and New Year a few years ago. The price of food in the Disney restaurants for Christmas Eve / Christmas Day / Boxing Day/ New Year’s Eve / New Year’s Day was extortionate, and the fast food outlets were closed on these dates. We travelled the day after Boxing Day and came home on New Year’s Eve. It was as busy as during mid summer, but obviously a lot colder when you are queueing, but the Disney Christmas decorating and atmosphere was lovely

Thabks everyone!

Dancinfeet - that's kind of what I was expecting- mid summer busy!!! Normally we try to avoid that but I don't think we can.

Im glad the decoration was lovely. And v useful to know about the food. It's extortionate anyway isnt it so that may factor in!

Escape- perfect! We'd go then if we could too.

Dante - thankyou. I'd been planning to taken mine out of school with that reason but can't get my husband out of work 🤦🏼‍♀️. He could do from late June so we had considered taking kids out of school then but it would be too hot for us. Hence weighing up going at all...

We went at Halloween and it was awful , 30 minute Q just to use a toilet.

2 - 3 hours for big rides

People everywhere you just couldn't find a quiet spot

So over priced.

I wouldn't return that said the kids did really enjoy it.

Indoctro · 16/09/2021 08:02

Oh plus it can be freezing cold and pouring with rain

PileOfBooks · 16/09/2021 08:06

Oh gosh that doesn't sound great :( Lots of people rave about Halloween too!

I wish we had a bit more flexibility.

Yes, it rained and it was freezing. 8 year old would ask to go back to the hotel. Also super busy and grumpy staff

Floralnomad · 16/09/2021 08:42

I’ve always found Halloween to be one of the busiest times and unless your children really love the villains characters it’s not worth the hassle . We went to Halloween a couple of years after the park opened and the decorations were fantastic in Frontierland yet when we’ve been in later years they’ve never quite been so good .

We went the week before Xmas a few years ago and it was fab. So magical. I wouldn't want to go any other time of the year now. We stayed in a Disney hotel so made the most of the 1 hour morning magic. Queues weren't too bad at all.

PileOfBooks · 16/09/2021 11:17

Spooney that's so encouraging! We'd have the early hour too. It does look like queues get over an hour from some reviews! As long as the actual crowds are manageable all good!

We're not really a disney family so disney at xmas is definitely something we've reluctantly fallen into (ideally have gone term time) rather than aimed for! It sounds like it will be fab :)

We went in October, I wouldn't do it again. I don't think the rides are good enough for what your kids will want, the food is shite, a princess lunch won't cut it and don't get me started in Chez aren't, my husband actually walked out.

PileOfBooks · 16/09/2021 12:37

Oh that's a shame :( They have some fantastic memories from when they went before but they were quite small then! Hopefully they will like the bigger rides this time...

To be honest I think they will be miserable standing for 2+ hours in freezing cold. Kinda saps the magic out of it. As at there age all they will want is the big rides and the Qs are awful.
PileOfBooks · 16/09/2021 13:03

We won't have to literally queue due to my daughter's disabillity, but I agree with you there. When we went to legoland and saw people with small children queueing for over an hour I did wonder who would manage that!

I do wish we could go term time :(

Just a heads up all the table service restaurants on Christmas Eve are mega expensive as the French have their Christmas meal on the 24th and you can’t just walk in. If your happy with stuff like McDonald’s that day then it’s ok and normal price
