I’m in a low slump - flare up of chronic health condition, feeling a bit shit and low. I’ve been trying to eat a bit more healthily - usually I do Biwi low carb plan to lose a bit of weight but I’m too tired to get super organised & plan it.

Mostly I’m eating the same daily, and I’ve dropped 2.5k in two weeks without feeling hungry. Can I carry on with it until I feel better or am I doing untold harm not varying it much?

Breakfast - boiled egg, slice of toast with marmite & butter. Coffee & tea

Lunch - smoked salmon, salad with spinach, cucumber, tomatoes, olives, pumpkin seeds, shaved Parmesan or little bit of feta, olive oil, teaspoon nduja pesto dressing

Snack - vegetable soup, apple, pear, grapes, yoghurt

Dinner - stir fried veg (peppers, beans, greens) and a chicken breast. Bit of soy, garlic, spring onion.

I just don’t want to think about food right now and this way I don’t have to.

Looks ok to me.

Personally I like a bit of chocolate and cake thrown in sometimes!

I have never been overweight, I eat what I want, just not a lot of it as I prefer portion control over restricted diets, but what we works for you....

You seem to be eating a variety and if your energy levels feel ok then it looks ok to me.

Your diet looks good to me.. The only thing I would question is whether or not you're getting enough fibre.. Apparently adults need 30g daily which I'm pretty sure is not met in your daily menu. It is hard to meet that quota though while eating low carb.

Personally, I would perhaps swap the grapes for a slice of wholemeal seeded toast and maybe add a some oatcakes and lentils and to your lunch :-)

Thanks, yes I’d like to be a bit more comfy in my clothes - I’m more of a 14 than a 12 at the moment and jeans are a squeeze.

That's a good diet.

What is the issue?

So just cut out the seeds, cheese and oil.

All high calories.

That looks fine - probably pretty good nutritionally, but theres not a lot of joy in it!

As above maybe add in a few special things - desserts or treats. If I had that diet everyday it would make me feel sad quite quickly.

But then I do get a lot of enjoyment from food 😂 and cannot have the same meal twice in a week!

I’m losing weight eating this way, it’s boring but when you’re feeling low the last thing I feel like is thinking about what to eat. I will look into the fibre point - that’s the kind of thing I thought I could be overlooking, thanks

If you’re eating lower-carb (but not no-carb) diet I’d try to work in some more fibre, like quinoa, rye bread, oatcakes or lentils. It’ll keep your guts healthy and keep you feeling full. Kale salads/spring greens are really good for that too. I’d also try to pair the fruit with some healthy fats, e.g peanut butter or a little bit of cheese.
