Girlguiding

My daughter has been offered a place in rainbows (girlguiding) and she has recently started stagecoach. If I have to choose one which one would you suggest is better option for child who is not an extrovert. I looking for something that will help her come out of her shell. She is keen to do gymnastics and music lessons and I have a full time job so can't do all four.

Rainbows - I don’t know anything about the other, but guiding offers so many options and directions in life.

HotPenguin · 14/09/2021 21:25

Stagecoach gets really pricey as they get older. Guiding is very cheap and offers lots of broader experiences.

Rainbows, my daughter is in her second year of Rainbows and it has helped so much with her confidence, she loves earning badges and the prices are reasonable.

Rainbows is usually both cheap and good and they move up through the groups.

Stagecoach is brilliant but really really expensive once they get to about 6 years old.

Rainbows. Guiding seems to allow girls to develop at their own pace, if my DD's experience is typical.

I would recommend Rainbows but then I’m biased as I’m a leader 😂 it’s a great way for girls to get to learn about the world, and as it’s run by volunteers it’s great value. There are often trips and camps which are subsidised so your daughter will experience these as she moves through brownies, guides, rangers (where they offer DofE).

I agree with pp - Rainbows.
My DDs have done brownies and guides and are now young leaders. It does depend on the leaders of the group but my DDs have had so many great experiences, camps and visits through guiding. They've both developed in confidence during their time there.

Thanks so much for the feedback. We recently moved to Orpington and she got a place in rainbows and is on waitlist for brownies. I always wanted her to join GirlGuiding but we didn't have GG where we lived. My daughter is 6.5 year old.
