Flu jab booking available

Hi - a heads up
Im in England and have to pay for flu jab and have been able to book. Was able to get one after work. I didn’t submit but presume free nhs at pharmacy can also be booked

I know there have been some delays in jab delivery but have been able to book early October. BTW GPS separately get stocks so not taking away from someone vulnerable or older. (I also have cerebral palsy and epilepsy but neither count as neurological conditions that made me eligible for free flu jab at least a couple of years ago though I was Group 6 for Covid as would find it physically hard to cope and may make my epilepsy worse).

Turns out our Lloyds has been taking bookings even though they're not expecting to get stocks in time. Only found out when we rang for something else and she said they were just going to ring everyone and cancel closer to the time 🤨

I pay for mine at Boots as I'm over 50 which means it's a longer wait for the GP administered one plus I can get it at a time and day to suit me. Its only £15 so worth it for the convenience.

I've been booked in for a while on 23rd September. I've expected to be cancelled and, I guess, they still might but haven't yet.

My parents usually get it at a similar time to me but via GP as they are 70s and 80s. They are early November now, just been changed from October.

I booked mine last week for the end of this month at a Tesco store.
I always, always have and pay for a jab since I was extremely ill and off work for six weeks in my 20s.
These days I work in a primary school, it's germ soup even at the best of times!

We’ve had ours booked at Boots for weeks now , we are having them on Saturday . I’m eligible for a free one but our GP hasn’t even mentioned them yet .

They haven't sorted out the process for co-administering flu shots and covid boosters, so I'd keep to separate bookings if you have made any.

We booked a while ago, and it's flu shots all round this Saturday.

We have an immune-compromised CEV household member, for whom third shot was announced nearly two weeks ago. 119 can't help - have to be notified by GP. GP still awaiting guidance. All smoke and mirrors FFS. At this rate otherwise healthy over 50s will be getting their covid3 before even the most critically vulnerable CEV

I think it should be free at the pharmacy if you're over 50.

I guess it might be this year. Last year I paid as it wasn't freely available to over 50s unless you had a problem that was listed (which I dont) but that was in September 2020 before they said 50s could have it generally, so maybe it will be different this year.

I don't mind though as its really worth it for me to get it done on my day off rather than on scheduled flu clinics which are always when I'm working .

BikeRunSki · 16/09/2021 20:08

@Kezzie200, it’s definitely free for all over 50s. I only realised this after I’d paid! I’m not used to being over 50!
