What odd things do you do?

That are normal to you but would seem odd to someone else?

Eg when going to sleep, I put my hair over my ears so spiders can't crawl in 😂

I just did it now and then realised how odd it actually is.
I'm sure I have plenty of other things as well lol

What are yours?

Tap the top of a can of drink to settle the fizz down.

DH says it’s unnecessary and doesn’t do anything but I’ve always done it😂

msssm · 14/09/2021 00:58

Pull out my hairs one by one, or pick my skin.

I'm always doing one or the other. I find it soothing.

Littleants · 14/09/2021 00:59

Say thank you to an ATM for giving me money. I always feel dreadfully rude if I don’t.

Caligal · 14/09/2021 01:15

Have a weird soothing routine that involves (extremely non sexual!) flicking my nipples from left to right while feeling the roof of my mouth tingle with my tongue and stretching my legs, especially my left leg where the bones in my foot click... so so random, but it has to be all three at the same time and normally when I wake up in the morning Hmm

I pick my legs to relax of an evening 🙈

After I've finished a hot drink, I like to press the warm mug against my ears. It feels lovely.

I do this! I thought it was a thing you should do so the fizz doesn’t all explode out the top?!

If I forget something at home and have to get back I'll look into mirror and smile to myself, it's just a habit that I picked up idk when.

SleepingStandingUp · 14/09/2021 09:10

I don't like the ends of water so I run the tap, put glass under, remove glass, turn tap off. I've worked on making myself drink the ends of water but I hated it when I was in my late teens / twenties

schwaneverstressed · 14/09/2021 09:22

Biting my baby finger on my left hand when I’m tired or worried . It’s very soothing .

Also putting a blanket or pillow over my exposed ear when sleeping - don’t know why !

schwaneverstressed · 14/09/2021 09:23

I also if I’m alone stuff my hand into bra and hold/squish my boobs Blush, I only do it when concentrating on TV or something .

kittenkipping · 14/09/2021 09:28

Schwan- I do that! Sometimes I forget and have done it in front of dh Blush

Mariell · 14/09/2021 09:31

If eating with my hands I never let my index dinger of my right hand touch my food. This stems from early childhood when in a museum I touched the glass in front of a taxidermy exhibit but in my child’s mind I believed I had actually touches the exhibit and it made me feel physically ill and is now an ingrained habit.

Mariell · 14/09/2021 09:31

Finger.

I don’t have a dinger, honest!

vampirethriller · 14/09/2021 09:33

I can't sleep unless my ears are covered.

desperate4spring · 14/09/2021 09:34

I never put my thumb into a packet of crisps. Always use my index finger and middle finger to get the crisps out.

I do that but with the corner of the duvet, no matter what the temperature is. I don't even mind spiders that much, but the thought of something crawling in 😓

I also have moments where I absolutely have to tense certain muscles in my body, one after the other, or I just feel restless and wound up!
Usually when I'm stressed about something.
My mum called them twitches when I was little, and as I was a child I didn't hold back so she took me to get my brain scanned 😂 everything's fine!

Houseofvelour · 14/09/2021 10:36

@loafcake that's both hilarious and kinda sweet lol
I have Tourette's so always been twitchy and my parents never thought to get me checked 🙄 I didn't get diagnosed until I was 23.
