What’s the secret to reheating pizza?

We had Pizza Hut last night. We have half left so are going to reheat it in the oven.

Does anyone have any tips for making sure the crusts are Edible? If we reheat in the oven, they go hard as rocks, but if we microwave then the base isn’t crispy.

Any tips?

Heat it up in a frying pan, not the oven!!!

Stops it going chewy and weird.

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 13/09/2021 16:57

You should have eaten it cold, for breakfast.

orangejuicer · 13/09/2021 16:59

I would eat it cold!

You can re heat in oven but need to keep on top of it.

Might have to try the frying pan one.

Not exactly what you asked but will give my penny’s worth anyway! When we buy those large create your own pizzas from the supermarket we always chop them in half for DS so he can have half for tea and half freshly cooked the next day for lunch/tea. We used to cook the whole thing and then reheat but it was always horrible.

NoSquirrels · 13/09/2021 17:00

Heated up? Nah, cold straight from the box.

dementedpixie · 13/09/2021 17:01

We just do 10 minutes in the oven and the crusts are fine. We use pizza trays

Magenta82 · 13/09/2021 17:01

Frying pan with a lid, sprinkle a little water on top of the pizza, put it on the stove, comes out better than the night before

Soubriquet · 13/09/2021 17:02

I don’t eat pizza (so can’t verify this) but I’m sure I read somewhere that if you dampen the crusts a little, they don’t go rock hard.

Or cook them with some water in the oven. Something along those lines anyway

MoiraNotRuby · 13/09/2021 17:02

Leftover pizza is meant to be eaten cold, what kind of monster reheats it?!

36degrees · 13/09/2021 17:02

Lightly spray the crusts with cold water so they cook slower than the rest.

Absoluteweapon · 13/09/2021 17:02

Air fryer

NoHunGosh · 13/09/2021 17:03

Heat up dry frying pan. Microwave pizza for 30/40 seconds. Finish off in frying pan to crisp up base - even better if you have a lidded pan to help with melting the cheese.

Ninkanink · 13/09/2021 17:04

Cold, with extra salt. Sooooo good.

But if you’re going to heat it do it low and slow - 10 to 15 min at 140. Or do the frying pan thing, again keeping to a lower temp since it doesn’t actually need cooking.

Thank you for all the tips!

I really fancy day-old pizza now 😆

longerevenings · 13/09/2021 17:15

I agree with air fryer.

BarbaraofSeville · 13/09/2021 17:47

Switch on the grill to preheat. Heat a dry frying pan on hob until really hot and add pizza. When base starts to crisp, take frying pan and put under grill until cheese bubbles. Then you have hot and crispy pizza.

This was a tried and tested method by some poncy chef or pizza enthusiast and declared the best.

CatJumperTwat · 13/09/2021 17:52

Don't. Much nicer cold.

Miliao · 13/09/2021 17:55

Frying or cast iron pan with a lid. Haven’t tried it with a Pizza Hut pizza, but works amazingly on the wood fired types.

FedUpAtHomeTroels · 13/09/2021 17:56

Eat it cold and dip in Ranch dressing as you go. Delicious.

TheChosenTwo · 13/09/2021 18:02

I always buy the stuffed crust if we get Pizza Hut (which is my preference), it’s absolutely Fine heated up in the oven, less than 10 minutes gets the toppings hot and melted again and I’ve never noticed hard crusts.
I couldn’t stomach cold pizza. Congealed cheese 🤢🤢

PunchyAnts · 13/09/2021 18:27

Best cold but if you must heat it up, microwave with a half mug of boiling water. The steam stops the crust from going rock solid.
