Quality wrapping paper

I’ll admit it now - I’m a complete wrapping snob 😬 I hate thin paper.
Where does good heavy wrapping paper? Bonus for rolls rather than sheets and bigger bonus if it’s recyclable 😊

Busy birthday month coming up and I’ve depleted my stash! Would never normally buy online as I like to see what I’m getting 🤣 but currently having to isolate so must be available to buy online!

-Choosing keeping on tower street.
The most beautiful selection of stationary supplies I’ve ever seen, very old world with silk screen papers, hand marbled , I spend a fortune every time I go.
-Cambridge Imprint, lovely thick paper with charming prints , ribbons , cards, labels .
They give you a discount if you by more than 10 sheets.

I need a new supplier of this too. I always bought big rod from Costco but the seem to have stopped making it 😡.
Currently I'm on some from Waitrose who this nice but they only had one pattern - for me it must be on rolls, I can't bear sheets!

I bought some from paperchase recently which was lovely and thick and had an almost satin sheen to it. But they were all just block colours. No patterns. They have nice sheets of paper but the rolls are rather plain sometimes.

I use local gift shops and stock up when I go for occasions pending (the type that all nice cards, gifts, wrap etc). They do all tend to stock the same brands though so I'm more than happy to also order online; rifle paper co, caroline gardner etc. I only buy individual sheets rather than rolls.

I also often order on Etsy, and have never had an issue, just make sure to look at reviews and images for an idea of paper quality. Happy to suggest some sellers if needed.

In a bind Waterstones usually have a decent selection of good quality wrapping papers sold by the sheet, near the tills.

If I sound sad, it's because I am. I love wrapping gifts and have practically made a hobby out of it.

@dontgobaconmyheart
When my nieces were little I loved wrapping in novelty ways using crepe paper, coloured cellophane and stuff like sequin waste. One I put their small socks into cardboard tubes, covered the lot in white crepe paper. Over wrapped in pink cellophane, then tied each tube in to make the whole think like a link of sausages. Fitted them onto a polystyrene tray, created a label, wrapped in cling film! Job's a good 'un. Last year I wrapped a whole load of stuff piled into a bottle shaped heap, wrapped it all in green cellophane, printed a champagne label, created a cork and made a wire basket for it - lovely jubbley!

for 'one' read 'once'

@queenofarles I’ve just had a look online - some really beautiful paper 👏🏼 Thanks for the suggestions!

@balzamico Hopefully you’ll get some ideas for here too 😊

@Florencenotflo I love Paperchase 😊 usually buy loads from there when I’m in the shop but nothing is grabbing my attention online unfortunately! Looking forward to getting started on buying Christmas wrap when I’m next in the shop though 😍

@dontgobaconmyheart Many may find you sad - but not me 🤣 Wrapping brings me so much joy! I was the manager of a small independent gift shop for 7 years and wrapping gifts beautifully was the best part of my day 😍 finding staff members that felt the same was somewhat of a challenge however 😅😅 I’m sure they were all sick of me lecturing them over crisp folds and near corners 🤣
I usually shop like you - local gift shops and nice quality sheets but I need some ASAP and can’t get out and have some large items to wrap so rolls is a must for this occasion!

I actually really love the Costco wrapping paper. It's really strong and big rolls. The squares on the back are really helpful too for cutting straight. The design might not be your taste though.

I always find lovely wrapping papers from tk maxx. I'm unsure if they sell these on their website though. They always gave a lovely selection in stores

Mariell · 13/09/2021 14:41

I have always used brown paper!

RossIsTheBestFriend · 13/09/2021 14:45

@BlackShadowCat I’ve never bought from Costco but will definitely keep an eye out next time I’m in!

@17caterpillars1mouse Another one of my go-to shops. They usually have lots of lovely designs! They do sell online 😊 Nothing that I fancy online at the moment in paper though. Although I have ordered some lovely Matilda and Charlie & The Chocolate Factory gift bags and tissue 😍

They had them in our Costco last week. Same designs as the last two years though, so didn’t bother getting any.

Whistlefish wrap is pretty good and they often offer discount whistlefish.com/collections/wrapping-paper

ThatSunnyCorner · 13/09/2021 15:01

Brown paper, or even white, stamped with Christmas stamps like these these and tied with string is lovely. When I can be bothered, that's what I do.

JamMakingWannaBe · 13/09/2021 16:16

WHSmith. 4m of recycled paper for £5. Plain and patterned, including Xmas. Currently 3 for 2.
