Inspired by the other thread!

I am quite a fan of halloumi, but I miss it's fad-predecessor, feta ;)

Mochi - I don't even know why! They are weird, but I like them.

Avocado.

Sushi! I am vegetarian but I could happily eat vegi sushi (and bento, for that matter) every day!

Garlic flavoured things. I used to love garlic and herb flavoured nuts. Now they're near impossible to get. Everything is bloody chilli flavoured or salt and vinegar.

FatCatThinCat · 12/09/2021 19:52

Crisy pancakes. Horrible things but I still miss them.

IglesiasPiggle · 12/09/2021 19:53

I also miss fruit and coffee creams in chocolate selections.

Oh, adding to my "miss" list: sandwiches with brie and grapes. I swear Pret used to do them? Now you cannot find anything with brie, it's obviously Not Cool.

Goat's cheese
Pasta salad
Greek yoghurt
Overnight oats

Jourdain11 · 12/09/2021 19:59

Give me Greek yoghurt over skyr or kvarg or whatever any day

I kind of liked the little coconut yoghurts - they tasted nice and seemed healthy. Then I read that they have more sugar than a Muller crunch corner Grin

I like set yoghurt in glass jars, lemon, vanilla, chocolate flavour. In France this is still super usual though, maybe it was never a thing here.

Brie ready-made sandwiches are, somewhat inexplicably, a Christmas Seasonal Special item at most supermarkets. Although I made myself a Brie, cranberry and rocket sandwich for lunch at home today 😋

I like wasabi flavoured snacks that seems to be a thing.

I still don’t quite get salted caramel.

I miss goats cheese and caramelised onion, that used to be everywhere…..hmm must make me something with that at home soon 😁

Blue4YOU · 12/09/2021 20:35

I’m still in mourning (as a veggie) that Vesta Chow Mein isn’t vegetarian. Sigh.
Yes to the Brie and grapes - I’ve a feeling Greggs had a roll though maybe that was Christmas

IncorrigibleTitmouse · 12/09/2021 20:50

I am another that loves a fruit or coffee cream!

I also love halloumi (but don't see it as a fad, having eaten it for near enough the past 40 years...), salted caramel, big French baguette sandwiches, fish cakes from chip shop (very 80s, I understand) and a good jam tart!

Jourdain11 · 12/09/2021 20:56

We live near an Italian café which does gorgeous crostata. Massive big slabs of jam tart, miam miam!

Co op used to do a Brussels pate with caramelised onion and it was amazing.

Chicchicchicchiclana · 12/09/2021 21:01

Vegetables coming with your £15+ main course when you order in a restaurant, rather than having to order 1 or more £5+ dishes to go with.

Aldi do a Brussels and caramelised onion pâté and its lush!
Boombadoom · 12/09/2021 21:33

@Mammyloveswine oooo! I have literally never shopped there but I think I might now!

boxonthehill · 13/09/2021 03:27

I still like sundried tomatoes which are very uncool now. Also the goats cheese and caramelised onion that pp mentioned.

I think my food tastes are stuck in the mid naughties

Sunbird24 · 13/09/2021 04:05

Yes to coffee creams, also Thornton’s dark chocolate ginger bars, M&S chicken, bacon & avocado sandwiches, Sara Lee pecan danish, and fondue (cheese not chocolate)

Dragonpox · 13/09/2021 04:09

Balsamic vinegar
Caramalised onion

LemonViolet · 13/09/2021 04:33

Ooh I love a sundried tomato. Always have a few jars in use them in pasta sauces/pestos, salads etc.

Is passionfruit cool now? I’ve loved it ever since travelling in Central/South America yonks and yonks ago (jugo de maracuya, por favor!) so would always choose it but lately noted it around more in random things - currently have passionfruit Jaffa cakes and passionfruit cider in the house!
