Apple device time limit

I've set my DD's app limit to 2 hours. What is the point of this if she can just press "ignore" and carry on?
Shouldn't it ask me (as the parent) to allow extra time or for the screen time passcode?
Have I missed a setting?

It's a poor tool. From my phone I can see apps have a time on them but if I use their phone, it's as if no limit is set. Apple support is rubbish on it too.

You should be able to set it so she has to ask for more time, rather than just getting it. Not sure how, sorry, as I set it up a while ago. We do combine the Apple controls with Qustudio, as Apple on its own doesn’t give the level of web filtering and degree of control we want.

On a quick google, have you set a screen time password? As per instructions here:

It’s supposed to be more of a reminder to be mindful than a hard stop, unless you set it up with a password.., I have it set for 10pm, it’s a pain to use it after that as every new app/website etc has to ask if I want to ignore the limit and then be refreshed.

I do have it set with a password. If I want to change anything, I need to enter the password on my phone to access their settings. But when the time runs out instead of asking DC to "ask guardian for more time" it now says "ignore"! If you press ignore, you can access everything.
