Do any of you (or your DC) have a nickname which has overtaken their actual name

DD does. And it was cute when she was a toddler but I can’t help think she’ll hate it when she’s older. Nobody uses her name, even her teachers use the nickname and she introduces herself as the nickname. If I call her her actual name she doesn’t answer

Do you have a nickname? Do you hate it or love it?

One of mine had to be taught her real name for school as her nickname was all she had ever been called and another has a nickname which is a name completely different to hers which we will probably be changing permanently when I get round to it, she's in her teensSmile

My BIL is called Bear by family and old friends. I think his girlfriend and adult friends call him by his actual name though.

If your DD decides she wants to go by her actual name rather than her nickname she'll just introduce herself as that name when she meets new people eg university, work.
