Favourite 80s and 90s bands

I've had a few drinks and have fallen down a rabbit hole of watching you tube videos of 80s and 90s indie and rock bands.
I think my favourite 80s band has to be The Jesus and Mary Chain.
90s is a little more difficult as I like so much music but I have settled on The Pixies
Hit me with your favourite bands from these eras and I'll have a dance in my living room Smile

Sugar
My Bloody Valentine
Ride
The La's

TheWeeDonkey · 10/09/2021 20:55

Stereo MCs were so good!
80s Duran Duran and Aha, saw AHa before lockdown and they haven't lost it 😍
90s Oasis, Pulp and Nirvana.
Oh and Guns n Roses, I was obsessed with Prince too.

HelplessProcrastinator · 10/09/2021 20:56

I saw JAMC in 1991. Blur was the third support band. JAMC were very miserable and very loud.

I love The Pixies, The Cult, Echo and The Bunnymen, New Order, Oribital, Chemical Brothers, Prodigy, Massive Attack, Stone Roses plus anything loud and dark with synths.

wobytide · 10/09/2021 20:57

Forgot Lush and Echobelly too

Ididanamechange · 10/09/2021 20:59

The cranberries!! I still regularly listen to them in 2021

Eyesofdisarray · 10/09/2021 20:59

80s- Adam and the Ants, Style Council, Human League
90s- Pearl Jam, Faith No More, Foo Fighters, Stone Temple Pilots.

No one has mentioned Skunk Anansie.

Notgoingonholiday · 10/09/2021 21:00

Erasure are my all times favourite. Bloody love them.
Neneh Cherry was massive for me too, I was obsessed with her Top of the Pops appearances.
Loved all the dance music of late eighties/early nineties.

Oh Brett Anderson 🥰
I saw James and The Charlatans at the
end of 2018 in Manchester, a week after Pete Shelley died. The Charlatans played Ever fallen in love.. there was not a dry eye in the house afterwards.

CovidPassQuestion · 10/09/2021 21:08

How bizarre- we just showed DS the videos of Firestarter and Out of Space after supper tonight!

The Stone Roses were right on the cusp of 80s-90s, so I'm counting them as both.

parrotonmyshoulder · 10/09/2021 21:11

I saw The Stone Roses so many times. Haven’t listened to them enough recently. Tomorrow play list. DC need educating. Thanks for the thread.

Also. St Étienne

CaptainCorelli · 10/09/2021 21:16

Never seen the stone roses but would love to. 80s love The Smiths, The Cure and Siouxsie and the Banshees. 90s love James and the Prodigy - have seen them both loads of times.

How old are in real time?

Sakura7 · 10/09/2021 21:25

80s - The Cure
90s - Smashing Pumpkins and Ash

Was actually listening to Ash today and feeling very nostalgic.
