If you are trying to lose weight, what are you having for dinner?

I don't eat bread, rice, pasta, potatoes or wheat/refined sugar.

I'm trying to only eat whole foods, very little processed foods.

But there's only so much salad and soup you can eat. So I'm looking for inspo. Plus, its friday, I feel like I want a friday treat too.

What are you having?

HurryUpAndWait23 I work varying shifts and dislike strict routine Grin so I change my hours all the time to suit, but my hard and fast rule is always to have a block of at least 16 continuous hours fasting in every 24, obviously either side of when I sleep.

On a day off or a day when I'm doing a day shift and not planning an especially big / calorific evening meal I fast 7pm to 1pm.

I do drink alcohol and if dh and I have a few glasses of wine after dinner I include that as eating and start fasting at say midnight and don't eat before 4pm the next day, and just do a 3 hour eating window - so a small snack (like plain Greek yoghurt with a banana) then dinner at 6.

Equally if I'm working a late+night sleep in+ early I'll sometimes eat lunch at 1pm then fast for 24 hours over my shift and eat again at home. Or sometimes I eat at work, it all depends on what I feel like, what we're cooking at work etc.

I juggle my hours all the time, I never let fasting cause me to miss anything such as a restaurant meal, I just juggle hours.

Its an immensely freeing way of eating IMO, especially as having stuck to it for 14 months now I am free of the conviction that I have to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner. I don't. I feel much better eating once or twice per day. If I'm out over "lunch time" that doesn't mean that I have to eat some disappointing, unhealthy sandwich or snack food just because of the time on the clock - nothing bad happens if I don't eat unless I actually want what's available, (or need to eat with people socially, but usually that goes together with wanting what's available).

Mince and tatties was our dinner tonight. I ate less potato than everyone else, small portion of the mince. Trying to lose weight 🤞

Have cut out alcohol from my diet. Only drinking for my birthday coming soon, and will hold off again until Christmas before having any more. It just gets in the way of losing the weight, for me.

Fish pie and cauliflower. I am not limiting carbs. Just trying to cut down overall and aiming for 1lb per week loss.

FizzyPink · 10/09/2021 19:22

Currently cooking a curry which I plan to have on a bed of kale rather than rice. However, I’m just not feeling it so I’m debating having something naughty and feeding the curry to DP when he gets home later

Salmon wrapped in prosciutto with green lentils, spinach, mint and yoghurt. Served with kale and cauliflower. Trying to eat lots of veg!

I'm trying to cut out processed food too, and not eat too many carbs. That said, tonight I had a jacket potato with butter and tuna, large salad with olive oil dressing and a handful of mixed seeds. Followed by kefir and melon.

Sounds a lot but that's it for tonight now.

I've had pesto chicken roast with Mediterranean veg on a bed of spinach, lovely.

BlackTee40 · 10/09/2021 19:53

I went with fajita chicken in the end, chicken, peppers, onion and I need to look up a fajita mix recipe. Served without wraps, but with salad.

I'm trying to lose weight but have a "cheat meal" on Fridays so had macaroni cheese tonight. Tomorrow I'm having grilled chicken with sweet potato and veg.

@itsgettingwierd

Pizza and skin on fries 🤣🤣

I've had no carbs since Monday, soups, fruit and yogurt for lunch daily and meat, veg for dinner.

So my Friday night great is a proper full out treat! I can only diet if I do this.

I'm trying it more as a healthier lifestyle and have lost 1.5 st through eating better and walking much more. But I refuse to deny myself something I really want. I want this to become more a way of life than a diet that I risk putting on weight after if I return to more rubbish eating.

I could have written this - except I had steak and chips and broccoli and a millionaires shortbread pudding thing.

Over my carbs but overall still under 1400 calories.
