She caught it from a BOY!

My daughter came home from her second day in reception yesterday. She'd loved Tuesday but didn't look as happy at pick up yesterday afternoon.

As we turned into our street, a little tear rolled down her cheek - she's tearful when she's tired so presumed that was the problem. By the time we reach our garden gate she's whimpering, and full blown sobbing by the time we're in and shoes off.

I try to talk to her. Her dad tries to talk to her. Her sister tries to talk to her. But nobody can work out what is the matter, and she says she just wants to be left alone. We leave her to lay on the sofa cuddled up to the dog whilst watching TV.

I can hear her talking to the dog, so I listen in. I catch the end of the conversation... "I caught Toby*, a boy, I caught it from a boy!"

I bemused what she could have caught from him, but she grunts when I enter the room.

Later on at tea, she hiccups and starts crying again. We ask her what is wrong and this time she eventually tells us "I caught hiccups from Toby at school. He was hiccuping yesterday and now I've had hiccups all day, and it's all Toby's fault!"

Ah, to be 4 1/2 again and your biggest worry is catching hiccups from a BOY!

*Not his real name!

I moved in with my partner and her SDs when one of them was just 2 years old. I always used to check the weather on an app on my phone in the morning, to see the chances of rain etc. One rainy day just after she'd turned 4 my SD was very off with me and eventually asked why I wasn't just switching it off.

...she thought I was controlling the weather on my app. In fairness it was Autumn shortly after a decent summer. She probably thought I was awesome for a few months before that.

When DS was little he announced that one of the children in his class had two mummys. So we had a conversation about how families all looked different and how that was ok.

Turns out that actually the child was occasionally picked up by an aunt. 😂

My DS came home from school during his first couple of weeks insisting he was going to get married to his girlfriend. He asked if I would help him write out the invitations to their wedding because they couldn't manage that yet Smile.

That's so cute, especially how she would only confide in the dog.

When DD was little, we met one of the creche staff outside the pharmacy one day and she told me that she'd lost her voice. DD was a bit perturbed and then I discovered that she thought the voice had gone missing. I think she was worried that she might lose her own voice!

This is adorable! Oh to be 4 and confiding to your doggy best friend Grin

When my DD was in reception she was very proud of her collection of certificates, made me put them up on the fridge etc.

They were her accident reports. She got at least one a week.
