Are they any good? Grandparents are thinking of getting one for my 4yo for Christmas and have asked whether it would be a good gift or not (apparently their neighbour's DC loves his). I haven't really looked into them so not sure what to say.

We had one for DC. The novelty quickly wore off TBH. The preferred real books and their tablet.

Bumping.

Thanks @PepsiHoover. That's what I'm afraid of... that it will be an expensive one-day wonder and then be left in the corner.

My nephew had one, he only really used it when strongly encouraged by my SIL, i.e. she had to sit there and make him do it. They offered to pass on the (completely pristine) set to my DS but with lockdown it was a bit too late by the time we could get it, I don't think we missed much tbh.

Yeah….load of rubbish.
My DD preferred proper books too.

Dd got one when she was 4. She uses it occasionally. She really likes it but tends to forget about it. It's really interactive and simple to use. But they can get bored of the books once they have used them a few times.
I wouldn't compare it to reading a book.
