Maybe its a bit of shock setting in but my next door neighbour was beaten up after telling some drunken people to keep the noise down outside our houses tonight.
He came running up to neighbour (who strikes me as very harmless) and has beaten him to the ground. I had to run in and phone police/ ambulance while my children were sleeping.
Went outside and gave bsic first aid. Left my phone inside because I didnt have a pocket and thought my children were sleeping, turns out eldest was awake and heard it all and didnt know where I was si feel so bad about that and also about my neighbour.
Sorry just need someone to talk to

What a horrible thing to witness OP. Hope the man is ok and not too badly hurt

MrsTerryPratchett · 08/09/2021 00:37

Write everything down exactly as you remember it now. It will help download it from your head and make it outside your brain (IYSWIM). It will also help if you have to be a witness in Court.

In the future days, watch for bad dreams, recurring, insistent thoughts and playing it over and over. It's common to experience PTSD, which is treatable, so you need to recognise it.

Sounds awful, maybe have a cup of sweet tea and sit down for a while until you can process it all. Hopefully the police made an arrest. Well done for calling the emergency services & giving first aid. It might be worth writing out what happened while it's still fresh in your mind.

Sunbird24 · 08/09/2021 00:42

Well done for your quick reactions in calling the emergency services and giving first aid, what a lovely neighbour you are! Can you make yourself a hot drink and put some sugar in it, no doubt you’ll have a bit of shock now so something sweet will help.
How old is eldest? Have they gone back to sleep now?

AmelieLovesAutumn · 08/09/2021 00:42

Oh that's dreadful for all of you!

Is there anyone that you could phone to come & stay with you tonight?

Did it take long for the police & an ambulance to arrive??

How old is your eldest?

MyLifeNow20 · 08/09/2021 00:45

Thank you. Well I kind of saw it happen as I was outside but then the wife said ring an ambulance so I ran in to get my phone and phoned 999 and sounded like an absolute idiot in a panic. I spent an hour and a half outside with my friend (wife) tonight and the police.

What a horrible thing to happen. I suggest you get a cup of strong tea, something sweet to eat,and a hot water bottle. wrap up warm on the sofa if you feel too wound up to go to bed.Radio can be quite good company until tomorrow morning when you can speak to people you know.

Millicentsparty · 08/09/2021 00:46

That's dreadful. Is he going to be all right?

MrsTerryPratchett · 08/09/2021 00:47

sounded like an absolute idiot in a panic

That is exactly what you should sound like. I actually had an operator ask if I needed 999 because I sounded too calm and descriptive. Fortunately the very ill man I was calling for then loudly threatened to kill me and the operator heard him. Panic is what they expect!

MyLifeNow20 · 08/09/2021 00:48

I phoned 999 at about 10.30pm, they were with us by 10.50pm I think by which time the 3 guys had made a runner for it.
Shes 15, I stuipdly put my phone inside (I was literally on my front garden) and shed messaged which I didnt pick up and my youngest is 6 who had woken up
I have no one nearby. My poor neighbour has 2 children and her husband is in a&e

Horrific and shocking. Well done op for going to help. Flowers Cup of sweet tea, write down all your thoughts and memory of the event.
It will probably play over and over in your mind. Be prepared to allow your mind to think about it for an allocated amount of time per day, say 20 mins, to try to stop it being overwhelming.

MyLifeNow20 · 08/09/2021 21:17

Thank you all.
He has a broken jaw in 2 places and needs operation tomorrow. Spent some time with his wife tonight.
The police know who he is but cant find him at the mo

@MyLifeNow20 how are you feeling? I know that your neighbour's family are going to be distraught, but you are allowed to have feelings about what you witnessed and the subsequent events of having to call the emergency services.

Take some time for yourself to process, and to reassure your DC that they are safe Thanks

MyLifeNow20 · 08/09/2021 23:00

Ive just got on with it all day but I have been crying tonight. I feel tired and scared, will he come back? Will it go to court?

Still replaying it all in my head
