Obviously inspired by the worst wedding food thread.

Nothing sticks out about sky if the food I've had at weddings,it's usually been done sort of average meat and two veg.

A really relaxed wedding on a farm. They served tonnes of pulled pork, potato wedges, different salads and coleslaw. It was so simple but really filling and fun.

I also liked our wedding. We stuck with a more formal meal (which I would have been happy not to have) but we made sure it was really tasty food and the service was quick and efficient. The last thing I wanted was the top table to be eating away while other guests were still waiting. So many guests commented on how nice it was to all be served at the same time and to have good good quality, still hot food.

@MintyGreenDream it was epic! We’ve got another wedding this weekend, both French, have to see how it compares!

Italian friends wedding in a beautiful castle in italy.

5 course dinner that went on for hours with the most delicious and simple fresh local foods. All paired with different wines - generously poured, no 'half a bottle per person' type limits there!

And a cheese and fruit buffet that was so massive it had to be housed in its own separate room - an entire room full of cheese, my absolute dream 🧀

There was one where the caterers created mezze platters that were amazing. It was a mix of hot and cold Greek, Spanish and Middle Eastern dishes. All very clearly labelled which was brilliant (I'm veggie) and they made a couple of separate platters for the two gluten intolerant guests.

Another surprise was one which was canapés only, no proper sit down meal (they still had tables and chairs for everyone). Thought I might starve but they just kept bringing out more food. They stopped service when food stopped being eaten then started it up again a couple of hours later.

In both cases they were weddings at village halls with independent caterers. The worst meals I've had were at the "posh" hotel type venues. They seem to leave 100 meals under a heat lamp to dry out so they can serve them all at once.

We went to a wedding in Italy and all 7 courses were amazing especially the cheese, meat and honey course. Oh, and of course the wine was superb

The best wedding food I’ve had has always been from buffets. Not the crappy evening ones with sad sausage rolls. Proper buffets with seafood stations, charcuterie, loads of salads, huge joints of meats, lots of different sides, cheese, several deserts etc. And as much wine as you’d like!

I eloped and got married on an island with just DH and our friends. We had dinner at a lovely Chinese restaurant right on the beach. The food was incredible, best seafood I've ever eaten.
I went a wedding in Malaysia, I have no idea what everything was but the food was delicious.
My sisters wedding menu was really boring and a bit bland, the kids got chicken nuggets I swear they were the best chicken nuggets ever. I didn't even know nuggets could be That good.

One of my best friends just got married and they are Indian but not traditional. So she said the only piece of India at the wedding will be the food. Omg. It was insane! On arrival we had bacon sandwiches/pastries/fresh fruit etc as it was 12.30 arrival. Then they got married, followed by a garden party with Indian canapés that did not stop flowing until 6pm when we had the most amazing Indian feast, about 6/7 curry's on each table with alllll of the sides. It was truly amazing.

A German friend’s wedding, done on an absolute shoestring in a village hall. Indian food ordered from a local takeaway, guests brought salads and desserts to share. Easy, informal and fabulous.

Youngest DD's wedding - Pie & Mash van! Historic, edible and totally non-pretentious.
So happy to read this, doing exactly the same in a few weeks!

Irish wedding where the vegetarian option was a cheese and onion pasty with lots of veg, strange but so much better than the usual options
