Coffee Machine Recommendations?

Hi - I have some birthday money saved and would really like to treat myself to a coffee machine. Never had one before, always something else to get for the house/kids etc etc. I thought I would get a Nespresso(?) type machine, I do like a cappuccino or a flat white but looking on Amazon has got me confused. Also - am I right in thinking I can buy a pod style machine and then buy other branded pods for it, say cheaper pods or supermarket brands? I have around £150-£200. Which feels like a ginormous amount to be spending on my an indulgence just for me, I really don't want to end up unhappy with it!

I personally would go for a proper coffee machine that takes beans or ready ground coffee. Gives you a lot more choice when it comes to choosing your coffee.

If you or anyone you know is a Costco member, they currently have the Melitta Cafe Solo for £229.99.
Slightly over budget but they are really good & are bean to cup so freshly ground coffee with each cup made. No plastic pods to deal with and easy to clean.

I agree with @CoffeeBeansGalore , we have the Delonghi version of the one shown and it's ace.

I have a nespresso and honestly I just LOVE it!! It’s amazing, but I’ve got one of their newer ones which they have a patent on the pods so you can’t get the pods from anywhere but them 🙄 I don’t mind it to be fair as we still spend less than we did on takeout coffees.

If you want To be able to buy from the supermarkets then don’t get any of their ‘Vertuoline’ ranges as they’re the newer ones. You’d need the ‘OriginalLine’

This is a good read when I was deciding as explains the difference.

You can also get a machine on subscription for a minimal amount a month by the way, check their website

You could go for a Nespresso subscription and get the machine for £1 as long as you’re going to use at least one pod a day (cheapest subscription is £20-25 which gives you enough pods for one a day).

I did think about doing this but then the confusion around the beans I would need started! I ended up down a google rabbit hole and just annoyed myself trying to decide which ones I would like Grin. Also - I do like a little bit of froth or a creamy texture? Would I then need a separate 'frother' I am just embarrassing myself now with my lack of know how.

Thank you - never heard of this. How long have you been using the service?

A while - a few months. It works really well for us. I buy cheaper pods that fit the machine from Sainsbury’s etc if I want to use more than we get sent.
