Just that, really. I have a difficult occasion coming up and want to not dissolve in tears if I can help it. Was thinking of buying the spray. TIA.

Of course it works. It's purpose is to earn money for its makers and in that it succeeds.

(But any other 'effects' are questionable).

MrsLCSofLichfield · 05/09/2021 21:01

Thank you for your advice everyone. I didn't know it was derived from brandy! Well, that's the drink for heroes, right? Grin

I've just got to get through a memorial service and I'm not good with these things. I need to restrain my emotions as I feel it's unfair to others who were closer to the deceased than I was.

Works for me and dc. Balm for exams and stressful situations. Spray and tincture not night and stress/anxiety.
I'm not a fan of the whole it can't work thing. It works for a lot of people and homeopathic remedies work too. Thuja for warts. Gave it to my dc, didn't tell them why and it got rid of some serious nail warts and a wart that had been on ds leg for months....and they haven't come back.

*For night

TawnyPippit · 05/09/2021 21:14

So after my dad died, I was waking up every night at 4am and ruminating badly and finding it v hard to get back to sleep. A friend of mine at work came into my office and said, look I know you are having a bad time with waking up so I’ve bought you this and I think it will really help. It was the night time rescue remedy - she said just to take it as soon as I woke, to think of some nice thoughts and it would help me drift off.

It worked 100%. Do I think it was a placebo effect? Yes, 100%. I think the subliminal thought that someone cared enough to worry about me and come up with a proposed solution was really powerful. It really helped me. I think if you believe it will work, it will. Good luck. (I will buy some and send it to you if it will help 😊)

Fubitch · 05/09/2021 21:17

That's a really nice post.

MrsLCSofLichfield · 05/09/2021 21:19

@TawnyPippit - thank you for your lovely post Flowers I have ordered the spray and will think of your encouraging words when I use it, I really appreciate your kindness.

It's not homeopathy (though Edward Bach was involved in that too). It's fluffy energy made by putting plant flowers in water in sunlight to get the positive energy from it some are made by boiling them and then that essence is preserved in brandy. Rescue remedy is made of 5 of the 38 different essences.

I took the practitioner course as a hobby back in 2013.

Possibly placebo, possibly more. I've seen it work on unbelievers and since there's no active ingredients (2-4 drops of brandy in a glass of water is less alcoholic than brewed cola) it's worth a go.

Strokethefurrywall · 05/09/2021 21:22

I swear by the stuff.
My mum used it for us as little ones and I’ve continued using it all my life.
It got me through exams, lone emigration, wedding day, labor and delivery, new baby anxiety, loss of my brother - the list goes on.

I don’t care if it’s placebo, I care that it works for me.

tiredforever · 05/09/2021 21:24

I should add I have all 38 and make up my own mixes for friends and family and have lots of positive stories from them (plus one man who never wants it in his drink again because he had to go and have a cry after an upsetting incident, and he NEVER cries).

So I might sound dismissive but I'm really not.

Fubitch · 05/09/2021 21:25

So it won't put you over the limit then?? I nearly had a whole bottle one flight.

tiredforever · 05/09/2021 21:31

@Fubitch

Depends on the size of the bottle, but 10ml at 40% is under half of a pub sized shot, and over the time taken on a flight you'd process it out of your system. By the time you faff about getting luggage? You'd be under on UK levels, but some countries have absolute 0% as their laws.
shesellsseacats · 05/09/2021 21:31

A very knowledgeable and lovely herbalist once told me that the act of giving medicine is medicinal in itself.

And it's true. It's measurable in conventional science, where it's called the placebo effect.

Two different ways to describe the same phenomenon.

Red placebo pills work better for pain and blue work better for mental health issues for example, apparently!

However, although the placebo effect is measurable it's not well understood.

Bach flower remedies are lovely and work for loads of people. Certainly worth trying to see if they work for you.

Fubitch · 05/09/2021 21:34

@tiredforever thank you, I had no idea!

TawnyPippit · 05/09/2021 21:41

That is so interesting @shesellseacats, thanks for confirming my experience.

@MrsLCSofLichfield, we are all sending you that thought 😊

liveforsummer · 06/09/2021 16:45

I've found it effective in horses who don't know they are being medicated so must be a bit more than placebo in my opinion.

Emmelina · 06/09/2021 16:50

It’s effectively brandy! Which probably explains why at double drops it feels quite effective for me Grin

Puppylucky · 06/09/2021 18:22

I don't think it's the brandy. I lived in Dubai and the Rescue Remedy there was alcohol free unsurprisingly but it still worked for me I use it when I'm flying Smile

Totallydefeated · 06/09/2021 18:54

It’s not the brandy. I got the alcohol free one for DD when she was anxious about going into nursery and it worked a treat.

Restinblue · 06/09/2021 19:01

I’ve always thought it’s the process and concentration when using it that takes you out of your thoughts and you kind of ‘reset.’ That’s how it feels to me especially when I count the drops. Plus the (possibly placebo) feeling of, I’m alright now.

Bimblybomeyelash · 06/09/2021 19:03

It’s all a placebo, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t work.
