Anyone know Belfast?

Hi. We are hoping to visit Belfast later in the year. Can anyone advise what area would be best stay in? We'd be looking to be able to walk to restaurants and bars at night, rather than having to use taxi's. Prefer nice up market bars and restaurants, rather than anywhere rowdy. We are late 40's, early 50's. TIA.

Belfast city centre is pretty small, so most places in walking distance.
Cathedral quarter probably has best bars/restaurants (try The Muddlers Club if you fancy a treat!).
The Merchant (£££) and Grand Central are probably best hotels. Europa is nice as well.

Just come back from a weekend there. Agree with the previous poster: everything is pretty central.

The locals certainly know how to enjoy themselves. Grin. Plenty of bars! A small point really but the restaurants stop serving at 9pm on a Sunday.

I stayed at this hotel with some girlfriends for a weekend before lockdown. Very central and really nice. Busy bar that seemed popular with the local crowd out Saturday afternoon shopping and really good breakfast. www.tensquare.co.uk

My mate got trapped in the bathroom for 10 minutes when the lock broke, and the maintenance guy had to bust her out! When we got back later in the day, there were 2 bottles of prosecco on ice and an apology note waiting for us! Lovely place.

We stayed at the Fitzwilliam and loved it.

When I went with my daughter we stayed at the Bullitt Hotel which was also good!

Love Belfast.

I must go back too as we didn't get around to Giant's Causeway.

Ate in a great restaurant called India Gate just up the road from the Holiday Inn. Best Biryani I've had.

Lovely city, people so friendly.

Love Belfast.

Merchant is lovely, but it’s expensive so I always feel like I have to make the most of the room while I’m there IYKWIM. I’d second the recommendation of Ten Square. Lovely hotel, great prices and really central.

For food, I love Ox (you’ll have to book well in advance), James St. South, Mourne Seafood, and Made in Belfast (think they have two or three locations. Casual and buzzy).

Make sure you check out St. George’s Market if you’re there at a weekend.

Im from Belfast!

Like a PP mentioned The Cathedral Quarter is best area to stay in. Thats where most of the popular bars/restaurants are. The Merchant Hotel is ideal location.

Any other questions ask away!

YY to tensquare, we also stayed there and they were honestly the nicest people I have ever met.

We visited the Titanic exhibition and took a black taxi tour.

Brilliant place.
