How do I dispose of these hanging damp traps?

I've had a couple of these (hopefully pics will show up) which are now full of water, one is a manky brown colour for some reason. The back of the pack says to 'dispose carefully in accordance with local waste regulations' - but I can't see anything about these on my council website. Can I just put in a bag and chuck it in the bin? I want to dispose of it properly, I live near a tip. I'd happily bin it but it does have 'causes irritation' etc on the box so I'm wary.

Thanks.

If its just water it's collected then I'd put it in your general waste bin

It's water that's collected but there are some crystal things which have turned to gel. This sort of thing:

There's a review on there that says the person cuts them open and tips it down the drain.

I wouldn't put it in a drain. The crystals absorb water and will swell and could cause a blockage. Put it in a bag and in the bin

The crystals have already absorbed the water as intended, it's now essentially a bag of liquid (one is clear, one has gone brown for some reason).

I just burst the bag with the tip of a knife, pour the water down the sink, and throw the rest into the general waste.

Thanks - I just worry that if that was OK it would just say that on the box instead of all that gubbins!

This suggests it's fine to tip down sink/loo (or put in the bin)

Can you not just put in it a bag like it says and then bin it? It says not to puncture it

PullMeInToTheScreen · 05/09/2021 11:14

Good point. I wonder if that is for when it's 'dry' but I think I'll just bin it. I just assume it'll burst at some point in the rubbish collection. Why can't the packet just be clear!

Definitely don't put down the drain. I would bag and bin with the normal rubbish.

No you can't put it, even just the water, down the drain as it's anti social, check with your water board, then check again.
