Baby cries = Sweating / panic / brain fog

I have a 2yr old daughter. Ever since she was born I have had an issue. When she cries or Whines I sweat. It’s like my whole back face and head is on fire and he’s going to explode. I cannot think straight in the moment and get a lot of brain fog while she’s crying I am literally a burning up headless chicken. This has been going on for far too long she’s almost two. Surely this is not normal? Does anyone else experience this? I’m worried about consulting a medical professional , in case they think I’m crazy

I had the same thing. I did speak to a psychologist about it, and she said it was stress hormones, adrenalin, cortisol. For me it's a PTSD reaction because of a past situation.

I'm so sorry, it's a horrible situation to be in. I also felt sick. I have to be honest, it only really resolved when my children got to an age where they stopped crying. I mean, obviously they still cry, but not that small child wailing. Anti depressants helped.

You should think about speaking to a doctor, reacting over and over is not good for you. If they think you're"crazy" you need another doctor Hmm

When dd used to cry (and still sometimes now) it used to physically hurt me. Hair on back of my neck would stand up and until it stopped I would be struggling to breath because my stomach would just hurt. I'm sure it was just anxiety related but it was an actual physical reaction.

Sorry forgot to say I had counselling (I had PND but didn't realise at the time, I had it 3 years after the fact but my anxiety was at completely unbearable levels and I asked for some help) and as she got older it got better as well. I also tried anti depressants but tbh I never felt like they did anything and one day I just stopped taking them with no repercussions at all which sort of made me think they weren't doing much except stopping me sleep! If you have some counselling they will give you strategies to deal with this. I have some physical things to do, just small things nobody would notice I'm doing but it helps ground me a bit and separate myself from the noise/triggers.

DD is 1 and I still get this ! It's an urgent and awful feeling. Like a pit in your stomach

Completely normal, for me. It happens when other people's small babies cry too, which I absolutely hate because I can't do anything to stop their babies crying.

Crying babies didn't bother me before I had my own babies, only afterwards. Some sort of "mother" switch has been switched.

I have this too. It is so powerful isn't it!

I have this and it turned out to be an overactive thyroid. It did settle at about 4 months.
