How to label kids school clothes?

First time mum here! What’s the best way to label clothes please? I want something that won’t wash off or peel off. I need to label black hat and gloves too, which might be tricky. Thanks.

Write child’s name and class with permanent marker on school trousers/cardigans/T-shirts etc on the inside tag. Write the same on insoles of any shoes and inside of school bags too

Gloves and hat is tricky, my DD lost a lot of gloves. Just need to remind them of the responsibility to keep them together with their belongings when not in use

I find that sewing in the woven name tapes is the most long lasting way of labelling uniform, especially if you use a sewing machine. It takes a while though.

Stickers . They stay in and easy to do . I use stickins usually .

minipie · 03/09/2021 12:03

Stikins on the washing label, they last really well.

Might need sewn ones for the gloves ans hat if they don’t have a smooth label to stick a sticker to.

Nametags4u stickers last in everything!

sew in on the hats/gloves.

Everything else a big black marker. I do the label, but in the past, having had more than one jumper go missing (and have jumpers appear in lost property with the label cut out), I also write on the inside of the waistband.

Sew in labels for all clothing.
For things like coats that are expensive, sew one in the neck so that it is visible and can be returned to DC if it is lost. Sew one else somewhere less visible so that if it is 'acquired' by someone else you can prove it's yours.

My name tags are great!

Used them for 4 years now, you can design your own. I put them in all ds uniform, on his drinks bottle / lunch bag etc. One sheet lasts me 2 school years.

IF name tapes are sewn firmly to the actual item, rather than just on the washing instruction label, they are far less likely to be cut out.

Nameswaptime · 03/09/2021 12:19

Stickins name labels, they stick to the wash label.

I started off sewing in lovely personalised name tapes but who has the huge amounts of time for that!! I quickly switched to the stickers - they last well, I’ve never had them come off despite repeated washing and you can bung them on anything from clothes to water bottles.

I get from "mine4sure". I've tried their iron on labels which rarely come out. And this year got the sticky ones. Let's see. But I'm very happy so far. They look lovely

ThePotatoCroquette · 03/09/2021 12:22

I use a sharpie

FrankiesKnuckle · 03/09/2021 12:24

Stamptastic. Just need to buy an ink block every 2/3 years.

Caramellatteplease · 03/09/2021 12:25

I worked through all kinds of sticky name labels. Usually they dont last or when they do you cant get them out and you're sending stuff the charity with your kids name on.

I wish I'd got woven labels from the start. Way way more secure and cheaper in the long run.

Dadvdtret · 03/09/2021 13:12

MyNametags stickers - I still have uniform that is on it's 3rd child where the nametags are going strong, through many years of washing & drying (I only get the surname - it'll find it's way back to one them eventually!)

Angel2702 · 03/09/2021 13:18

Name stamp can be used on everything and takes seconds. I use a white fabric pen for the few black items that can’t be stamped. Uniform, shoes, lunchboxes, pencil cases, calculator everything gets stamped.

DinosApple · 03/09/2021 13:27

Stikins are the absolute best ever. I've been using them for years (eldest now in secondary).

Literally peel and stick onto the clothes label, it won't wash off or fade, you can put them on lunch boxes and water bottles, bags.

Only place you can't put them is the inside sole of shoes. You can put them on the inner side though.
Or use a Sharpie.

Sewing labels is a chore I cannot bear!
