Ok so i have been havibg driving lessons since 2019( lockdown ext got in the way) i have my test in two weeks and my driving instructors car (ford ecosport) i have absolutely no issues in. But i bought myself a older 2006 fiesta as a first car, and having sone issues. Hill starts at junctions! My god i just cant do it. I feeel so thick and just meh. My instructors car has hill control and litrally holding the clutch to bite on her car deals with rolling back on hills. But in my car i either stall or roll back. What do i do..any advice

Take the test in your instructors car if possible. If not you need to get used to your car's biting point, the bit where it feels like it wants to pull away.

Also how big is the engine on your Ford? I had a Fiat that was such a small engine it too would roll and it was just because the hill was too big for the engine. It took knowing the biting point perfectly to manage.

So you're not thick it's probably just the car. Keep practicing.

I've been driving 9 years. Husband 20 years We have a lovely modern car. We've just had to get a cheap runaround car (an 06 clio in our case) as a back up as we need two sometimes... we are both having trouble adjusting to the old car. I drove it 20m yesterday and stalled twice (reversing it on the driveway up a slight hill...) Its practice getting used to a different car.

Old cars need the handbrake on hill starts.
