Why would my gp be requesting a routine appointment?

I've just received a text from GP surgery (very helpfully just after they closed) saying they have booked me in for a routine appointment in 2 weeks time and to contact them if it isn't suitable.

Why would they have done this? I had blood tests done 2 weeks ago which the results were delayed coming back then delayed giving me the results as the dr was on holiday and hadn't reviewed them-I still haven't had the full results although nurse said liver/cholesterol/diabetes level is all fine.

I'm still waiting for the other results and so if this appointment was a telephone one then I could understand it but this is face to face and right in the middle of my work day annoyingly. Obviously I will call in the morning to try and find out why and hope it is a mistake but anyone know why?

I had a levosert coil fitted yesterday but can't imagine id need a face to face appointment to talk about it 2 weeks later and the go didn't mention an appointment at the time... I'm mildly worried.

What other bloods did you have done? With some things it’s quite usual to want to do them again 2 weeks later to check to make sure they were accurate. Alternatively, they may want to do something they have to do in person, like re-check blood pressure. We’re you being investigated for something specific?

They would have sent it after they closed as this would have been the first opportunity the GP would have had to start doing the admin and looking at the results from today, the texts are sent as the results are viewed and actioned. If it was serious they would have rung you tonight or you would have had a message asking you to make an urgent appointment. Its fine to ring tomorrow and find out what its about but try not to worry tonight.

Could it be due to your age or a medication review?

It was just a routine "now you've turned 40" health review, weight, height etc, risk of stroke etc. Blood pressure was fine too. Nothing was being investigated, I just haven't had the full results back although nurse said she was happy with the ones she could see. It's not the appointment itself that is alarming per se, it's the fact it's a face to face one-not sure why that's necessary.

Thanks for the responses though, it's good to know they would have called if there was something serious. I'm hoping it's a mistake as yesterday they said they were having a nightmare with the computers-when I turned up for my coil it said I had 2 appointments, one with the nurse and one with the dr 2 hours later (receptionist said it was a mistake and things had gone mad).

I've just spoken to the receptionist and while she couldn't tell me much, she said all results said "tell patient normal" except liver function. I am not a heavy drinker at all, I go months without a drink, so it can't be alcohol related. I really don't want to have to take 2 hours out of my working day for a face to face appointment (these are now standard rather than telephone calls she said), for something unimportant, if it is important then fine but why is it important enough for an appointment but not so urgent that it can wait 2 weeks? I don't get it. I have asked them to message the dr and ask if it is 100% necessary.

You might have a fatty liver which is common and can cause liver tests to be abnormal. They'll want to let you know and maybe arrange an ultrasound scan. Also something like gallstones could cause it too.?

Oh jeez, hadn't even thought of that, I bloody hope not! Why the nurse told me it was fine in the first place I have no idea!
