Old duvets

My mum is downsizing and we are starting the clear out of her house. She has loads of duvets and pillows she no longer needs. Do charity shops take them? If no what do I do with them?

Any animal rescue places near you that might want them for bedding?

FadedRed · 01/09/2021 09:16

Pet charities might take them, especially dog rescues.

Homeless charities might like them.

I doubt charity shops will be taking these at the moment. We've just had to get rid of an old duvet at the tip. They won't accept them in the fabric recycling bin, they have to go in the non-recyclables, sadly.

In the past we've donated old duvets etc to local animal shelters but again, they may not be accepting them just now because of Covid restrictions.

And refuges will take them

I'd check first with any shop or charity you are thinking of donating to. Give them a phone.

Our dog and cat home no longer takes duvets or pillows but will accept blankets.

Some charity shops will not take them , hygiene, storage space etc.

Pet shelters near me aren't keen. They all have Amazon wish lists or want money.

Same with homeless shelters.

I've had them all professionally cleaned and they are in great condition. But can't get anyone to take them. Can't bear the thought of them going to landfill.
