My ex got arrested, I'm worried about kids

I hope this is in the right place. So my sons dads gf just messaged me to say my ex hit her at the weekend got arrested and is waiting to be charged, Social are involved with her kids and they've been taken off her and she has a solicitor, I'm assuming she hit him too otherwise why else would Social remove the children (she hasn't told me this, she's said it was all him). The reason she told me was to give me a heads up incase Social want to speak to me, my son is already supervised with his dad by his mum through an agreement with Social from when we were together (he didn't hit me but I did have police involved) so now I'm worried if they will get involved with me. I havnt spoken to Social in years since the agreement they were happy to close the case straight away and havnt had any problems with ex since, and seeing as me or my son wasn't involved what so ever in this fight (I don't even see or speak much to my ex) I'm really hoping they will leave us alone, what do you think? I cant help stressing 😪
Thanks

If they do contact you it will be to check that things are OK with regards to contact and that your ex isn't harming your children via you. They'll offer support if you need it. They will clearly see you're taking good care of them by only allowing supervised contact, you have nothing to worry about.

Was your son there at the time?

That poor woman.
If SS do contact you, be honest with them. The best thing you can do now is give your support to a woman who has been abused by the same man who treated you so badly you had social services involvement.

I would contact them first, telling them that your son has no unsupervised contact with your ex, but due to current legal situation you wish to move this to contact centre supervision.
It shows the social worker you are pro active in making sure your son is safe.

Please don’t worry, it would be regular practice for a social worker to want to speak to you and your son, just to ensure his father hasn’t been violent to him. It’s for your sons protection.

SpaceBethSmith · 31/08/2021 18:48

SS likely removed them because it was particularly violent and wasn’t the first time. Nothing to do with her being violent, I’ll bet.

TigersandTeddybears · 31/08/2021 18:54

Social services will remove children from an unsafe environment due to domestic violence even when the violence is only perpetrated by one person against the other and even though they know the risks of women leaving, because they are acting in the interest of keeping the child safe from being victim to (including witnessing) domestic violence. It sounds like they have been removed because this is not the first time, it was an especially violent incident or both.

TigersandTeddybears · 31/08/2021 18:55

You probably will receive a call from social services. If this was me I would not be allowing ex to see DC without a court order even if there was a previous arrangement in place. I would want to protect my child in every way possible from this kind of violent, volatile situation.

OnceTheyDid · 31/08/2021 19:43

You may hear from them, but it will only be to confirm that your child is still only having supervised contact.

TheChip · 31/08/2021 19:53

They will probably just contact you by phone to see how things are and if you need any support. They have no reason to become involved with you.

As for her children being removed, I'd imagine it would/could be due to the fact that she has allowed him around her children when he is only allowed supervised contact with his own.
