To prefer long walks/ hikes alone.

I was a member of a walking club for many years. Much as I enjoyed the walks and lovely scenery etc, I found the constant chatter and noise too much. I am an introvert though! Lately, I've been branching out and doing longer hikes myself. I find the silence and peace refreshing and feel less drained afterwards from all the small talk.
Anyone else feel like this or am I just odd!?

I like walking by myself or with one other person, I’m not a fan of walking in big groups.

Yes I do all my walking alone sith my headphones in. It's my peace time!

I was at a Rigpa Buddhist centre yesterday, and a part of the shrine room and grounds were separated off for people doing a month-long silent retreat. I thought it sounded blissful.

For those anxious of walking alone you can send someone from your whats app a tracker. You click as if you're sending them a message, click on the paperclip icon, select location, select share live location and length of time. I do it everytime I go for a walk, it may not follow accurately while en route but it does show DH when I'm safely home.

You can also set your phone to automatically call and text selected people an emergency pre set message by clicking the lock button 3 times. Not sure how to set it off the top of my head but worth googling.

I've seen the pictures of the queues MrsD Shock

But if anyone wants any inspiration, here's where I've been today, just above Haworth in the Yorkshire Moors. The heather looked and smelled fantastic.

The tree in the middle at the top marks the Top Withins ruins, said to be the inspiration for Wuthering Heights. There were loads of people around the ruins and at the Bronte waterfall further down, but apart from that there were long stretches where I was totally alone.

I’ve always had an uncooperative small child or time constraint and never made it up to Top Withens when in Haworth, @BarbaraofSeville — it looks glorious. Though a friend said it was plagued with tourists taking moody selfies and channeling either Emily Bronte, Sylvia Plath or Kate Bush (the latter tended to have cloaks or be sort of steampunk, she said…?)
