Anyone with knowledge of Littlehampton/Worthing?

Is it possible to walk between the two towns along the traffic-free beach side promenade pushing a wheelchair?

Meaning, is it tarmac/pavement or sand/shingle (which wouldn't work)?

Any other recommendations in the south for easy traffic free beach side walk with a wheelchair?

Just along from Worthing is a charming village called Rustington. Interesting shops and a flat wheelchair friendly prom. Along from Littlehampton which is also a lovely seaside town town is Bognor Regis. Less interesting but a flat prom suitable for wheelchairs

Great, thank u. Do u think I can walk from Littlehampton all the way to Rustington or are the 2 not suitably linked?

Yes you can walk to rustington along the pavement by the sea. Not all the way to worthing though.

You can walk from Worthing as far as Ferring then there is no concrete path just grass to East Preston.
From East Preston to Rustington the same, then you can take footpath from Rustington to Littlehampton. It is quite far though. I would say the whole thing is 8 miles maybe more. For the grass bits between Ferring and East Preston no proper Road without going quite inland. For East Preston to Rustington the road is better but both are through private estates with multi million pounds homes so not technically public.

Littlehampton and Rustington are the same place really. This isn't a long walk.

An easier and concrete walk is Shoreham Widewater lagoon to Lancing along the beach. Its all tarmac. or the river walk from Shoreham to Bramber. The Downslink is nearly all concrete/tarmac (not all) and extends to near Guildford. There is also a circular route in Shoreham up.the right side river over a footbridge and down past the airport and over river and back and can include town centre. Both.sides tarmac as far as A27.
In Brighton you can walk from Marina to Peacehaven via Rottingdean
The problem with all these routes is loads of bikes!

Was also going to suggest Lancing as all paved, plus east parking that's £1.50 a day and a great cafe. The walk between the two isn't the most scenic (pebble beach, which drops down), but lancing end is a nice beach.

Hove towards Brighton isn't a bad walk either, although busier. We park at the King Alfred leisure centre and walk along to the i360.

I don't know where you are but the path around Selsey Bill is also tarmac.

@Backonceagainwiththe

I don't know where you are but the path around Selsey Bill is also tarmac.
I was on holiday last week and we went to Selsey Bill. Part of the path is tarmac (by the life boat station) but we did quite a long walk and the bit of the path along the beach nearer to the shops is completely covered in stones/pebbles from the beach and definitely not doable with a wheelchair.

Thank u all.
Hope to try something tomorrow, been to Brighton/Hove which we found too busy.

Been to Selsey, liked it but not quite long enough.

There's a fair / market on Worthing seafront tomorrow so it might be busy but worth a visit. Easy walk to/from lancing straight along.

YogaLite · 29/08/2021 18:44

Oh, and we tried the Downs link near West Grinstead but turned around when we reached a stretch that went on the road and the roadside path was not made up.

Will also try going north on another occasion from W/Grinstead to see how far we get.

@Backonceagainwiththe, that circular walk looks brilliant, thank you.

If you go north from west Grinstead you end up at Southwater Park. There's a cafe ... the path around Southwater is also all tarmac but not that long.

Thank u @Backonceagainwiththe Smile
