Contact lenses

I've had contact lenses for over 30 years, I've been finding for the last month or so that my eyes have been dry and I've tried to cut down how much I wear them. I went without them all day Thursday (wore my glasses instead- I have a strong prescription) and then put them in yesterday afternoon. When I came to take them out at about 10pm I couldn't get one out, it was like it had been suctioned to my eye! This has never happened before.

Any wearers out there experience the same thing?

Maybe you need to see your optician about dry eyes.

Mine get dry but only if I wear them for too long or have been in a lot of central heating/air con. If I ever slept in them, many years ago, they'd be stuck to my eye.

Yes, you need to go for a check up, there could be quite a few things making your eyes dry, especially if it’s a recent thing.

Mine sometimes do that when my eyes are particularly dry. They eventually move!

Sorry should have said I've a check up booked in a couple of weeks (first available appointment) so will be wearing my glasses a lot more and having more breaks too but will definitely be checked out

Have a look inside your lower lid, if its red then your eyes are irritated and might benefit from a break from lenses. See the pharmacist for some drops for dry eyes. Hydro something!

@MistySkiesAfterRain I've been wearing my lenses more than usual as I hate wearing masks with my glasses and I was having to wear masks all day at work. Also at the weekend if I was doing the supermarket shop I'd put the lenses in when usually I'd not bother and stick with my glasses.

I had my lenses in from 4pm-midnight and no problems getting them out thankfully! Heading out again today but will only put them on before I leave, I like the flexibility of sunglasses rather than switching glasses continually!

I'll have a good look at my eyes when I wake up fully 🤣

Google Sjorgens syndrome. It’s actually quite common as people get older and is also a sort of autoimmune condition. Hyco san extra eye drops are good - you can use them as much as you like and with contact lenses.

Get some drops.

Have you got hayfever? My lenses always go drier when my eyes are suffering with hay fever.

Thanks all
I've got drops and they seem to be helping, have also minimised the time I have been wearing my lenses too
