Does everyone have a window cleaner?

I have one, but I want to get rid of him because he’s so expensive. Does anyone clean their own windows, and if so how do you do the upstairs ones?

We have one £6 every two weeks for 3 storey townhouse with large French doors. They can't reach 2 of our velux on the top floor but these spin right round and take 2 minutes to clean from inside.
They do our gutters and soffits once a year for £80 and it really makes a difference to the look of the house.

I only have one since last year and I am so glad. I definitely think the money is well spend as I hate cleaning.

Tried it a few times but they never came back or disappeared after coming twice. The one that was more regular never came the same day each time he was coming or he'd miss weeks and come the week after (ie 5 or 6 weeks instead of 4) so I stopped trying and bought a window vac. Luckily my upstairs open like doors so I could have done them from the off but as a carer it was one less job. The window vac makes it much easier than buckets etc.

As an ex-window cleaner, the most important thing is to get the correct scrims, you won't get the same result with any old micro-fibre cloth.
You can buy a blade and mop from amazon for under £20. The only other thing you'll need is some Fairy washing up liquid, water, bucket and a ladder. If you have to remove cement, paint etc, you can buy cheap scrappers, always wet the glass before use to prevent scratches.
If you are going to work off a ladder, get someone to foot it, or properly secure it with ladder ties - clean windows are not worth a broken back.

Yeah ours was there 15 mins and cost about £25 a month so l got rid.
I clean the ones l can reach when l can be bothered!

We have a traditional cleaner who uses a ladder, every two months. And DH does the insides.

I had one but cancelled last month. It was costing £15 a month and not like the windows were sparkling clean. There were also a couple of occasions where he didn't come on the correct day but didn't tell us, so we had to leave the gates unlocked two days in a row whilst we were at work.

@QueenAstrid

Thanks all. I now realise paying my window cleaner £18 a month for a 10 minute job is a ridiculous waste of money and I need to either do them myself with a telescopic thing or just ignore them.
Get your window cleaner to come bimonthly instead. Sorted.
