Hi, I'm due to take my 3 year old to Thomas Land next week and I'm panicking that I might not fit on the rides. I'm a ladies size 22. Can anyone reassure me? Any larger ladies been and been ok? Any rides to avoid? I'd hate to ruin the day for my son and im getting worked up thinking about it. Thanks!

You'd be best placed to contact the venue directly and ask, OP. They'll be able to tell you if there are any restrictions to the rides.

gardeninggirl68 · 26/08/2021 23:06

my size 16 arse struggled

depends i guess!!

MrsFin · 26/08/2021 23:18

Haven't been there, but if it's the same as similar parks I think you're going to struggle.

I think you will struggle to be honest

Is there any other adults going with you?

snapple21 · 27/08/2021 05:53

I saw a lady have to get off the Toby ride when I was there. You'll be ok on some but not others it's hit and miss.

Having a look on their website, the majority of rides that aren't thrill seeking look as though they would be ok. Some might be less than comfortable. It depends where/how you carry your size/weight.

Plus there looks to be a lot for 3 year olds to do that isn't 'a ride'

How tall is he?

Would he go on kiddie rides by himself? With another child?

Have a look at the individual rides on the website, they pretty much all show the style of seating.

I hope you go & have a brilliant day together, any that you don't think you'll fit on, tell him you're too tall or he's too small...or whatever, he's 3. He'll have a brilliant day regardless!

It's horrible worrying though!

Their number is 0844 472 1950

Do you need to go next week? If possible I'd go after the school holidays. It'll be so much quieter! Plus you can get the cheaper £25 adult & toddler pass (didn't look to see about Tesco vouchers etc).

Cupcakegirl13 · 27/08/2021 08:29

I was a size 20 when I went and it was ok on some and painful on others !

JenniferAllisonPhillipaSue · 27/08/2021 08:33

I'm a size 18. Embarrassingly, I had to get off a low-level coaster ride at Crealy this summer as the safety bar just wouldn't go down ... Blush

3 year olds can't go on any rides without an adult.

I went with my DS when 34 weeks pregnant (not the same, I know). I got on quite a few rides just fine. But some were a struggle and others were an absolute no go.

momofbhoys · 27/08/2021 09:03

The q's for rides in Thomas land are awful. I went when the schools were open but there were loads of school age kids. I don't know if they were meant to be isolating or just missing school, or an inset day?

The rides were very old fashioned (not sure if that makes them smaller) they were very open minded to accessibility so I think if you called them they would be helpful.

My ds was only 1m so couldn't go on a lot of the rides so bear that in mind when you plan your trip.

Mouse2017 · 27/08/2021 09:30

Thanks everyone. I think the worst worry is the not knowing! My husband is coming, so my son won't miss out, and we'll do all the non-ride stuff together. It will also give me the kick up the bum I need to lose the weight! Thanks for your comments 🙂

I'm a similar size and it was fine!

alittlequinnie · 27/08/2021 11:01

We went there are few weeks ago with the grandchildren.

My husband is a little on the larger size - big belly. He couldn't get on the Bertie the Bus ride because they couldn't put the bar down.

He really struggled on one other too but I can't remember the name of that one - the one that looks like it's going to work like a pirate ship but then goes round and round as well as swinging up and down?

The toby ride was okay for him and we went on a lot of others with no trouble.

I did see a lot of people not being able to use the rides as they were too large.

I think your child has to be above 1.2 metres to ride the ride alone.

It's such a nice day out though!

TedsMum16 · 17/08/2022 21:58

How was it in the end? Im going soon and didn’t even think of this! Would love to know how it was before I go!

CURIOUSmummyBear · 22/03/2023 12:07

Hi. How did you get on? Please let me know of any advice if needed?
I'm a size 26 and we go at the weekend with my 2 year old and the inlaws so I'd be absolutely mortified if I have to get off a ride In front of them because in too big 😖
Thanks

HH88 · 22/06/2023 11:25
