I live in newquay but visit truro often.

In what way is your mobility bad? There are plenty of thin pavements that are cobbled and wonky streets (annoying with a pram but they are part of the charm)

I really like it, central in Cornwall and connected to most bits by train apart from newquay haha

Always feel safe.

Hi I regularly shop in Truro. They have introduced a pilot scheme Healthy streets which the aim is to reduce traffic during certain hours of the day, which seems to work. In the next couple of months the hall for Cornwall is reopening and already it seems to have booked some great acts.
Christmas is usually good (before Covid) they have a Christmas market every Wednesday during November which begins with a lantern parade.
There is a lovely park, Malpas just outside (though you may have to take a taxi), quite busy in summer but nice for a picnic.
Shopping is good in Truro, there is a big Sainsbury's and Tesco's on the edge of the city.
You can take boat trips to Falmouth every summer).
There is also a farmers market every week, and a regular entertainment and events taking place in lemon quay.

I like living here, came for the surf and never left 10years ago.
It's as beautiful as ever, seems to have undergone a lot of "gentrification" so there's the surfing, fishing, skating and beach bum chilled out groups of people alongside those with more expensive taste, kinda of fashionable hipster vibe.

I like that there's a lot of variety here.

It's expanded quite a bit in the time I've been here so it probably would feel bigger and busier than you remember. The busyness is a bit of a problem at times, traffic (as youve probably read in other cornwall threads) is very very bad and it's much more stress free to walk places. If you decide to live here Id try and live close to where you work or play so you can walk. There's still some areas with thin pavements but it's not as bad as other cornish places. Most areas are accessible apart from around the front of the bowls ground beside sailors.

A whole new little town is in construction just on the outskirts called nansledan which is beautiful and quite different. Its all these multicoloured stunning houses and is having a whole new high street. It's owned and looked after by the duchy of Cornwall (Prince charles) and includes the protection of the surrounding land in trewollack.

With you saying you can't drive, do you manage to get around a town OK? Or do you need to rely on buses? There's enough buses to get around the local area but getting to places like truro / St austell / penzance or anywhere a bit further is a pain on bus as they take ages and there's sometimes only a couple a buses a day depending where you need to be.

Screwcorona · 31/08/2021 14:38

I'm hoping they improve the train connections 🤞 it would make visiting other places across County so much easier

Hello

thank you so much for the message, im not completely incapacitated
just have the odd bad day.

i dont have to rely on work thankfully as i have my firms medical insurance to rely on.

so financially i would be fine

As for getting around we would need the bus, we know the bus service isnt the best in thw world and takes an age to get from A to B.

we did see a place in St Colmb minor but it was just a bit to far from the GP surgery for my mum.

many moons ago we lived in Deer Park opposite where the big sainsburys is theres a small little alley way

would be great to hear from you.

Hello

I was wondering what do you know about living
in or being near St Columb Minor.

Mum and I saw a place just of church road in st columb
but we were worried about the distance to doctors in narrowcliff
as that comes as the nearest GP.

As i say we dont drive and walking can be an issue for mum
as shes 74 now not old but when your healths not great lifes not easy.

be lovely to hear from you
chris
