Are period pants any good for young teens?

Dd is 13 and has had about 4 cycles so far.
Her periods are a bit heavy, yesterday she flooded through her jeans whilst she was in town, bless her she was mortified.
She really isn’t liking pads and says she isn’t too keen on the idea of tampons or a menstural cup just yet. So I was wondering about getting some period pants.
Can anyone recommend a good make and are they any good?

Should have added that she flooded out on her bed sheets the other night so are they any good overnight?

I’ve got friends whose dd uses them so they are definitely good, not sure on makes, maybe a few different ones. I get lots of ads for
modi bodi red.

I think period pants are life changing although I wear them as back up with a moon cup and it is so lovely never having to worry about accidents. I use them on their own on lighter day though or days when I think I may come on for peace of mind.

Yes they are fantastic. Wuka or modibodi.

wiltonism · 26/08/2021 14:12

The Modibodi shorts style work well for my dd overnight, so can take quite a bit.

When she has a heavy flow she uses period pants + a towel.

Chilli08 · 26/08/2021 14:16

Ive literally had my first pair of modibodi on last night and i cant believe i waited so long there life changing. First time for a long time no mess when i woke up. My dd is 12 and the minute she starts i will be getting her some.

gogohm · 26/08/2021 14:39

I used them with a tampon on heavy days but on occasions I had run out they were great, I have heavy flow modibodi

Etinox · 26/08/2021 14:41

Primark ones are great and not ££ so not the end of the world if she doesn’t get on with them.

KingdomScrolls · 26/08/2021 14:42

I use heavy flow modibosi short type and have very heavy periods, I do still use a towel as well overnight, but mainly because I have white sheets and don't want to take the risk. They are great during the day even on the heaviest days

Thewholeshackshimmy · 26/08/2021 17:03

Thanks all.
Etinox I didn’t know Primark did them, thanks.

I’ve heard the Primark ones leak. Maybe get some more opinions.

I have Sainsbury’s and modibodi. Modibodi are alarming expensive. Dd started with two pairs to try. She uses them with a pad on heavy days and then ditches the pad.

dancealittleclosertome · 26/08/2021 17:20

We have Sainsbury's for lighter days and Wuka for heavier. Pads don't seem to want to stick in the Wuka ones, but they do in the Sainsbury's.

TopBitchoftheWitches · 26/08/2021 17:28

My 17 Yr old loves them.

Boopeedoop · 26/08/2021 20:30

Bodyform have just started doing them too.

SecretWitch · 26/08/2021 20:32

My 14 yr old has been using them for three years. She has certain sensory issues and cannot use pad or tampons. We found overnight pants work best for heavy flow days.

OlivesTree · 26/08/2021 20:35

I have cheeky wipes and modibodi brands. Modibodi are expensive but are far superior. Really comfortable.
I bought mine last Christmas when there was a 30% code going around, so maybe look out for one again this Christmas?

ElspethFlashman · 26/08/2021 20:38

ASOS do a couple of brands as well, free shipping.

Runningforcakes · 26/08/2021 20:39

My dd has one pair of modi bodi ones which are great. I think I’ll have to suck up the expense (£20 per pair) and get her more for school.
It’s crap that they are so expensive as she’ll have grown out of them in a year but tbh I’d pay pretty much anything for her to be confident during her period

HPandTheNeverEndingBedtime · 26/08/2021 20:44

Cheeky wipes are a UK brand and cheaper than some of the others, they do a teen pack with a couple of pairs of pants, reusable towels, wet bag, face cloths. DD liked trying both out and prefers the pants (which I also use although I use them as back up).

Which ever brand you buy, don't use fabric softener as it ruins the waterproofness.

SoupDragon · 26/08/2021 20:45

DD has some but only likes them for light days. She isn't a fan for general use.
