...when did your wound and tummy stop hurting?

I'm 8 weeks PP and still tender. I can move easily and go about my business, it's only if I touch/press my stomach or my little one kicks it when I change or feed him. It's a tender, bruise-like feeling.

I was readmitted 10 days PP with an infection, so I'm wondering if what I'm feeling is normal wound healing or leftover infection. Just wondering when to see a doctor.

Mine was an "emergency" CS BTW.

Hi OP, it was around 9-10 weeks that I'd say the wound wasn't sore if it got knocked somehow. Everyone is different though! My stomach is still numb/feels a bit strange above the incision and my DD is nearly 20 mo.

I think if you're at all worried see the GP. I'm sure they won't mind- better to be reassured that all is well than worry about it any further Smile

I also had a slight infection at about 10 days, though it only needed antibiotics to clear it up. My GP said to contact them again if I was unsure about the healing so I'm sure yours would say the same

I would say tenderness and ouch if bumped would be normal for a good few months. Pain though is not good. The numbness took over a year to go though. It's a major operation by my standards

Mine was 20 years ago.
I honestly don’t remember it hurting much at all.
I am a smoker and had to walk about a kilometre to the front of the hospital to have a cig.
I managed to make it the day after DD was born with a catheter and drip stand.
She was born abroad

I was still tender at that stage with both of mine, a lot longer with the second than the first.

Was it planned or emergency? Both mine were planned and healed very quickly but I know people who have had emergencies that have taken much longer I imagine due to the more rushed nature of the operation.

Bloatstoat · 26/08/2021 16:23

Mine was planned, 11 weeks ago. I've not had an infection, have been checked a couple of times, as the scar has been bleeding and is slow to heal. It's become much less painful in the last couple of weeks but still hurts if touched (have had baby in the sling and sometimes she kicks, still wearing maternity leggings all the time as other clothes rub) and it aches at the end of the day if I've done a lot.
My GP and practice nurse were both happy to check for me so call your surgery if you're worried.

I had two emcs and no pain to speak of really. I was back running at 8 weeks. My friend was still very sore at 8 weeks and had a bruised feeling for a few more weeks after that.

Both experiences normal. But both very different.

I'd get checked for peace of mind if you can but I don't think it's abnormal.

13.5 years on and it still feels a little odd, like a bit numb and just a bit strange.

I’d say it actually hurt if pressed for probably 10-12 weeks, but it’s never been completely right. Not to the point that it actually affects my life or anything. It just feels strange if you prod it.

Sceptre86 · 26/08/2021 17:51

12 weeks in both times it felt much better. 4 years since my last one and I still get a tugging pain there sometimes and numbness in the surrounding area.
