Tell me how to have a pet and no stink!

So I go to people’s houses and their pets and the pet food don’t smell.

We are thinking of getting a cat but I am worried mostly about smelly cat food.

What can I do? Put the food outside?

What are your pet owning tips for me?

I was also thinking of a robot hoover.

You don’t have to wait until they are a year old to give them dry food. Dry food for kittens is available.

Everyone who says that their cats litter tray doesn't smell is lying. I've yet to be proven wrong. I have a cat, my cat doesn't have a litter tray as it was already trained to go outside before it came to live with me. I genuinely do feel bad that it might shit in neighbours gardens but it was already trained to go outside and is one of those cats that only comes inside for food and sleep. It doesn't like being petted that often either but will sit on my lap when I'm wfh when no one else is home.

I think people become immune to the smell of the litter tray and stop noticing it. It doesn't matter how expensive, what charcoal thing it has, how many doors or how enclosed, the litter tray smells.

Mine will only smell if there's wee or poo in it. I use a deep amount of clumping litter and there's only clean litter in it so no, doesn't smell because nothing dirty is left in I think if you use a small amount of litter or clay stuff and wee gets stuck to the bottom etc then that's when it smells. But if I go and sift through my cats tray now it is purely clean litter

I wouldn’t put it that strongly, but I tend to agree. Ours started out in the downstairs loo, which has an extractor fan. It was then moved outside as soon as the cat was able to go out. He’s never used it after that, so it doesn’t smell and it’s outside so it wouldn’t stink the house out if it was used.
