Hi all moms to be...I was wondering if I could hear some thoughts around the vaccine during pregnancy...I had the first jab (Astrazeneca) during the very early stages of pregnancy before I even knew I was pregnant...I was going to hold off until after my baby was born to get the 2nd dose however I am now starting to think it might be worth having both during my pregancy to avoid falling seriously ill with covid and ending up in hospital with my unborn baby. The advice for pregnant women at the moment is to have phizer so I spoke to a dr at my local surgery and he advised it would be fine to have phizer as the 2nd jab even though I had astrazenaca as the first.. I guess I just wanted the views and opinions of other moms to be around this...

Look up the recent news reports about women who have ended up giving birth prematurely and being in ICU due to being unvaccinated. The likelihood of long term illness/conditions due to long covid is much higher than possible side effects.

If you've spoken to a doctor then that's the best advice Smile

Wait, or you'll be forever going for boosters, plus the 2nd jab seems to be harsher with side fx. On the other hand, you'd make a good guinea pig for the drug co's.

The doctors give the best, most up to date advice on this, and pretty unanimously their advice is to get it. Don't risk your life or your child's. The consequences of Covid, especially in late pregnancy, are dire.

I had mine at 10 and 13 weeks in April (I'm in the US where we could get it sooner). Pfizer, limited side effects, baby still totally fine at 31 weeks.

Hello everyone
We’re getting a number of reports about anti-vax sentiment and misinformation. Mumsnet, being an open site, does mean that this kind of thing tends to be robustly challenged on the boards, and many users are here looking for reassurance after all.
We're always on alert to anyone here with a specific agenda to share a particular (often extreme) point of view. We'll usually ban such posters as their contributions to threads are rarely helpful. We also delete links to sites that are clearly peddling bad science/fake news.
We think, especially with the emergence of new vaccines, it’s understandable people will want to discuss what’s involved - but we’d always urge anyone with questions to speak to a medical professional too. You can also find further information about vaccines on the NHS website. www.nhs.uk/conditions/vaccinations/why-vaccination-is-safe-and-important/
