We used the ADHD Centre - clinics in both London and Manchester. Would recommend.
@Starryskiesinthesky I'm in Fife - just a wee train ride away from Edinburgh. My DD (15) has ASD and is being assessed for ADHD. I see myself in her..
Any advice re assessment would be great Smile
Hello, I'm in your area and I was referred on the NHS but when everything shut down because of the pandemic I got letters saying it might take a long time. I couldn't bear it 😳 so went to psychiatry UK for assessment with a psychiatrist and titration onto medication with an ADHD nurse prescriber.

I was just waiting on a response about the shared care agreement when my NHS appointment came through. Luckily I've now transferred to the NHS psychiatrist (based out of Stratheden) and get NHS prescriptions.

The medication isn't magic but has really helped with anxiety and overthinking and with being able to start to do really dull stuff a bit easier. I don't really get side effects, other than a bit of a dry mouth - I'm keeping very well hydrated now which is prob good for me 😄

I did try to start with an ADHD coach, you can get funding through Access to Work, but my life got a bit overwhelming/busy so I've had to leave that for now.
She was nice though and had interesting ideas.

We went private - DS definitely had needs but not acute enough to get much traction with NHS and we really wanted to make progress before secondary school next year. Shelled out for private and it was worth it to expedite - now he is on meds we've started process to 'share care' with NHS so GP essentially takes responsibility for meds.

Psychologist saw him on Zoom right at start of lockdown, and got teachers and us to fill in forms, then we had a long discussion. DS fitted in very clearly with inattentive ADHD - not especially hyper, but attention in school etc a real effort. Meds have helped him quite a lot with concentration and more gradually to cope with emotional management (which psychologist explained would take a little longer to bed in).

Psymplicity here. London office did diagnosis, direct prescription of meds. £495.
