Robot vacuum cleaner - do they work

Quick99 · 24/08/2021 11:16

Do they actually clean as well as a Henry hoover? Can they do the corners?
Any recommendations under 250 at all?

Can’t help you but I’m interested also . I’m looking into buying a Eufy Robovac

NewLifePending · 24/08/2021 11:20

I have a Eufy and it is a game changer for me! It was his first birthday over the weekend and my son decorated him with stickers.

Honestly, you won’t be disappointed

I have a Roomba iRobot - it is the base model but would not be without it as it is way better at vacuuming than I am. It is 4 years old but still works perfectly which is more than can be said for the Shark and Dyson predecessors.

You can get fancy ones that wet mop / operate on a timer / activate via app etc if you have the cash.

We have a Eufy one, it’s not something to compare to an actual hoover.

If everywhere is very tidy it certainly reduces the frequency of needing to hoover properly, but it still needs emptying/unblocking/filters cleaning daily, and usually needs to be rescued at least twice a day after it gets stuck.

If you have no pets and hard floors with little furniture you may have a better result, for us it just reduces how often the real hoover comes out and still takes up 5-10 minutes a day rescuing or emptying it.

I have a eufy too, and love him. Under my sofas gets done daily. He has an edge mode so can go around the edge of the room.

I personally think Henrys are crap, so would definitely say my Eufy is better than that.

ArchbishopOfBanterbury · 24/08/2021 11:24

I have a eufy s max, hard floors, and 3 black cats. There's no way I could keep up with the cat hair situation without the robovac.

Escapetothecounty · 24/08/2021 11:26

Ours doesn't clean as well as a proper vacuum however, we run him 2/3 times a day so the floor never gets really dirty on the first place as it's getting done so frequently. I love it, love coming down from putting the kids to bed to a clean floor (ours has a mop facility too which again isn't as good as a proper mopping but does the job for a daily run). The brand is Roboscenic I think.

angelopal · 24/08/2021 11:27

How do they handle stairs? Thinking of getting one but DH is worried it would fall down them. Do we program it to stay away from the top of the stairs so it wouldn't fall down?

LadyDanburysHat · 24/08/2021 11:46

@angelopal they have a sensor to stop them going down the stairs.

angelopal · 24/08/2021 12:09

Thanks that's useful to know. Will start looking into them.

CanIPleaseHaveOne · 24/08/2021 12:21

I have Eufy.

Game changer for me,

I agree. I think Henry's are rubbish. A robot and a dyson for a proper vacuum = perfect combo

I agree with everything said above. Mine is now gathering dust in the under stairs cupboard as it is just too much faff

Eufy 30c and absolute gamechanger; highly recommend!

Following as thinking about getting my mum one for whispers Christmas
Wonder if it would be a pain for her emptying it and rescuing it etc

Cupidity · 25/08/2021 15:54

I love ours. However the main benefit has been that we are forced to tidy the downstairs every evening now, so no little bits of lego etc get hoovered up. This means that toys don't have the opportunity to build up into a massive mountain of chaos over the course of several days.

CrystalMaisie · 25/08/2021 16:48

Good thread @Quick99. I would like one that mops.
I’ve looked at Which but they hardly have any recent info, other than recommending 2 that cost £800 and 2 grand.

Timeforachangetoday12 · 25/08/2021 17:14

2 cats and a dog and a eufy!! It’s great to keep on top of the day to day fluff! We still do a main hoover around twice a week but downstairs eufy does the carpets and hard floors once/twice a day!
I’m looking to buy another for upstairs - it does mean we keep downstairs tidy so eufy can do his job! So it might work upstairs with kids keeping it tidy!!
