Easy, on the go breakfast ideas please?

I'm starting a new role at work which means I'll be starting much earlier than I am now. I do eat breakfast but can't really stomach it before about 7.30 so will be eating it at work, which seems to be the done thing with the early starts. There is a canteen on site but it's not great and you only have a 15 min break at that time so not a lot of time to get there, eat and back so I would like some ideas please?

I want something fairly healthy, not cereal bars and nothing hot. I can have cereal and fruit but not sure I want that every single day! I don't like yoghurt so that's a no. Any ideas?

Overnight oats/bircher muesli
Breakfast frittata - recipes online, batch cook in muffin tins so you can eat out of hands
Toastie made at home so it will have cooled from mouth-scorching lava-like temperatures/you could make the night before.
Anything you would eat for lunch

Banana flapjacks

Mix bananas, oats, butter and honey and bake in the oven.

There's probably an actual recipe somewhere.

I don’t eat breakfast, but hard boiled eggs and cold sausages/ham?

Anything can be breakfast, so eat whatever you want!

LadyDanburysHat · 24/08/2021 10:03

What do you usually eat at home for breakfast? At my old office a lot of us started early so ate breakfast there. I had cereal or porridge. Other had toast sometimes.

LordOfTheThings · 24/08/2021 10:14

I usually have poached eggs, scrambled eggs or porridge at home. I'm a fussy twat so that doesn't help. 😂

I make breakfast muffins with chopped ham, herbs, bit of veg/herbs/cheese etc Whatever is to hand really in cake tin and freeze. Just microwave each morning a couple and wrap in foil. Or an omelette.

LadyDanburysHat · 24/08/2021 10:47

Will you have access to a microwave at work? I have a little sistema thing that can make a little omlette or poached egg.

Winecurestiredness · 24/08/2021 11:02

Do you like avocados? I find theyre like a kick up the bum energy wise! If I'm in a hurry I smash up an avocado in a bowl, add chilli flakes or chilli oil or just plain salad dressing , any seasoning I like and add nuts (cashews are nice with avocados) maybe some sunflower seeds or scrambled eggs if I have time

LordOfTheThings · 24/08/2021 11:13

No microwave unfortunately, but some great suggestions here.

Another vote for egg muffins, I make a batch and grab a couple each day or at least I used to when I actually went to the office...

LordOfTheThings · 24/08/2021 11:30

Egg muffins sound like a great shout actually.

Overnight oats. My current favourite is oats, raisins, peanut butter and some chocolate protein powder. Keeps me full all morning

FinallyFluid · 24/08/2021 11:44

Flour tortilla with cream cheese and smoked salmon or streaky bacon and avocado, or a cold egg tortilla.

FinallyFluid · 24/08/2021 11:46

My go to breakfast at the moment is strawberries with flax seeds and sunflower seeds with Yeo valley natural yoghurt.

Athrawes · 24/08/2021 11:46

Overnight oats.
1/4 cup oats
1/3 cup of milk
2 big tablespoons of yoghurt
Half an apple or mango chopped up small
Maybe a scattering of sultanas or dried mango or nuts
Teaspoon of chia seeds (I don't know why, protein? They are very fashionable!)

All stirred up (you want to spread the chia seeds through the mix otherwise they are like a lump of frogspawn) in a kilner jar or similar. Fridge.

I make 2 or 3 at a go and then they are there to grab.

I used to cook bacon, let it cool then make bacon sandwiches and have them cold. Would sometimes toast the bread and let it go cold first.

You can get a food flask and make porridge at home then take it in the flask. They keep food hot for about 4 hours. Just heat the flask first with some boiling water and make the porridge a bit runnier than you usually like it as it will thicken a bit in the flask.

PineappleWilson · 24/08/2021 11:51

Don't foget porrige pots. I'm guessing you'll have access to a kettle. Not as cheap as overnight oats but sometimes warm food helps.

BlueChampagne · 24/08/2021 12:54

Marmlade sandwiches. Keeping them under your hat optional Smile

FinallyFluid · 24/08/2021 13:01

@BlueChampagne you have just made me roar. Grin
