Ideas for a simple but beautiful birthday!!

It my birthday this week and I will be 41!

Due to a huge vet bit (horses who’d have them!!) we are fairly skint and so big lavish meals or a spa day are out.

I do however have a husband who is an amazing cook and will quite happily make me a lovely meal.

Weather on our side (it seems)

And 3 wonderful daughters who I’m sure will fuss round me!!

If you could have a low key day of doing anything you pleased and filled it will all your favourite things and also had the choice of meals what would you pick?

I think it really depends on you and your family. Breakfast in bed? Or you could go out for coffee and cakes? Maybe go out for a nice walk or a horse ride! For dinner I'd just choose your favourite meal that DH cooks and make sure to have dessert too.

Ooooh I’d have a lovely walk somewhere scenic, maybe the beach or the countryside.

Your favourite food (for me it’d be steak or an amazing curry night) and something decadent for dessert.

I’d get my daughters to paint my nails, go out for a walk en famille with a lovely picnic, come home and play a board game, enjoy hubbie’s meal, maybe have a film night (my choice of film!) and maybe a bubble bath with a magazine and scented candle.

I would go out for a lovely walk and organize a high tea at home. Or go somewhere lovely for tea and cake. And then go home for a great home made meal with lots of wine.

It’s lovely where l am today, picnic somewhere in the country with cheese cake and nice walks. Home for a nice bath and a movie everyone can enjoy with some treats. Happy birthday.

Go to the seaside. Walk on the pier. Take lots of photos. Sit on a sea wall and eat fish and chips. Walk on the beach. Take more photos. Go on some fairground rides. Eat ice cream. Take yet more seaside photos. Find the sort of retro cafe with Formica tables and plastic tomatoes for sauce bottles and drink tea. Walk on the cliffs. Go home and drink champagne. (This only works as the perfect birthday if you are really, really keen on a) the seaside and b) taking photos of the seaside and c) going on fairground rides, obviously ... )

I would also go out for a lovely long walk somewhere scenic.

I'd ask for a full English before we went and want a nice afternoon tea when we got back - sandwiches, scones etc.

Then a relaxing bath and a family movie.

I was 41 last week and this is basically what I did.

Except we went out for afternoon tea on my birthday and did movie evening with snacks and as it was ds birthday a few days later we did a long walk and garden centre tea and cake afterwards.

But I'm single and have no one to cook it for me or else I would have asked for it to be made.

I did make muffins, bacon and eggs for ds birthday.

Happy birthday Thanks

I had a very low key big birthday during the first lockdown, and for dinner, we had my favourite foods as a buffet, adding things the DC like (sausages etc), and we grazed on it all evening, with a few glasses of champagne. Daytime, I went for a sea swim with pals and family, which was fab.

Thank everyone great ideas....

I definitely need to avoid eating out, sadly even if it is cake. (think DH and I are going to go out for a nice meal next month to make up for it!!)

I have however remembered I have a voucher for a shoulder and back massage and might splash out for a mini pedicure to stretch out the pampering...

I also thought maybe a bottle of fizz and cake at the beach watching the sun set (we are SW so quite spoilt with nice beaches)

Now what to eat!!!!

For my 50th last year in lockdown I had fish n chips on the beach in Whitstable but also met friends in St James park another day and had a “ high” tea with some booze.

For my birthday DH hade me poached eggs on lovely toast with a smear of marmite.
We had a lovely walk (lucky with the weather) which took until
Mid afternoon.
DD (16) gave me a facial with some of fancy skincare). I had a nap.
We played an 'at home escape room' game which was fun.
DS made dinner: his patented cheats pizza made with harissa and tomato purée mixed together and spread onto naan bread.
It was such a chilled day and I loved it.
I think lots of us have realised over lockdown that pared down can still be amazing.
DD even played whale music on her phone while she did my face!
Happy Birthday OP.
