Is it just my DP who does this?

Baby settled for nap, I settle down to watch the programmes I didn’t get to watch because of said baby … and he appears.

If it was once or twice it wouldn’t matter but it’s like clockwork! I think he KNOWS!

Where's he been?

I don't understand the question, sorry. Where is he appearing from? Do you mean you have to stop watching TV when he appears?

Planetsandstars · 23/08/2021 09:21

I just meant that as soon as the TV goes on, he pops into the bedroom and starts chatting to me, which is very sweet but it is every time I’m looking forward to a minutes peace, so can be a bit annoying Smile

I don't understand the question either. My husband doesn't appear, he lives in the same house, he's allowed to be here.

“Hi DP, can you stick the kettle on and pass me the biscuits, please? I’m going to have half an hour watching Netflix”

AfterSchoolWorry · 23/08/2021 09:25

Tell him to get out!

TooWicked · 23/08/2021 09:27

“I’m just going to settle the baby for a nap then have an hour to myself to catch up on my programmes. Anything you need to ask or talk about before I do? Nope, good, see you in a bit”.

Alternatively…

“Hey DH I’ve noticed you disappear when the baby needs settling for a nap, and then you want to come a chat while I’m trying to have an hour to myself. Why is that?”.

Alternatively…

“This is the first minute today I’ve had to myself, can’t you see I’m trying to watch this programme? Piss off“.

blueberrywaffle · 23/08/2021 09:41

Every time. He's now realised Iv learnt to block him out when the tv on so he doesn't waste his breath anymore !!

HollyGrail · 23/08/2021 09:42

Headphones then he wont' know.

Ah OK, that sounds annoying but also like something that could be solved in 5 seconds by just saying "no offense but I need a bit of me time, I'll be down later and we can chat then". If any part of that sentence prompts sulking, stropping, or a refusal to do as you've asked, then you have a bigger problem, but hopefully that'll do the trick.

He does it because the baby is asleep and he can get your undivided attention.
