Regular words that sound rude, offensive and sticky

Flannel. I hate the word “flannel” it's rank.

Curling. A friend of mine uses the minging term “Curling one out”

Banger. Used more commonly to describe a good song. “Absolute BANGER” sounds gross.

Taking a shit / took a shit. I hate that phrase. “Dogs have been out – took a massive shit right in the road”

One of my favourite words is “Confabulation” which sounds like a really offensive swear word you'd call someone with venom as in “You confabulating BASTARD”

I genuinely want to know what perfectly normal words or phrases make you wince and cover your ears.

I agree with "lush" cant stand it. Especially when it is used in a gushing way.

I also hate the words hubby and wifey! Although hubby is used more. Ive yet to meet a person to refer to their wife as wifey...

“Dongle” always used to make me snigger. Sadly little used now with Wi-fi and www technology. I was delighted when I bought the DC preloved Guitar Hero (PS4 game) recently which had one.

MrsScrubbingbrush · 23/08/2021 09:03

Gutted as in 'I was absolutely gutted' - makes me think of gutting fish

Gobsmacked - just hate the word

Not that keen on 'belly' either.

Bellagonna · 23/08/2021 09:48

@3Br1tnee

I hate the word super. It just sounds ridiculous and wanky as fuck.
Superb is extra wanky
wizzywig · 23/08/2021 09:50

Curated. Locally sourced. Provenance. Asdas. Mataland. Mad as a box of frogs. Picky lunch

Curlymam88 · 23/08/2021 09:57

I absolutely hate the word 'sh*g' replace the star with an a. Cant even type it. Feels like a chavvy disgusting word.

Cuddlemuffin · 23/08/2021 10:04

Going for a slash.

Also I. My husband's home country the direct translation for taking a shit is PULLING a shit which is the rankest thing I've ever heard lol

BikeRunSki · 23/08/2021 10:06

A trouser

BobbinThreadbare123 · 23/08/2021 10:55

'A red lip' just NO

Squills · 23/08/2021 11:18

The use of Mandarin and/or Tsar to describe a senior civil servant or similar. Totally pretentious.

CounsellorTroi · 23/08/2021 11:21

@MrsDThomas

Not everyone in Wales uses lush. Its not used in the north. Just because Gavin and Stacey use it, people think the whole of wales do
I’m South Walian and use lush occasionally. E.g went to my local Indian restaurant for a meal and Sam Warburton was there (he’s a regular). He is lush.
GnomeOrMistAndIceGuy · 23/08/2021 11:21

Scrumptious - or even worse, scrummy.
Fuck right off!!
Loathe it when used to describe food, and loathe it even more when people use it to describe a baby. Grim!

Forstarters · 23/08/2021 11:29

Glistening…..

OoglyMoogly · 23/08/2021 11:45

Piss and shit - I cringe when people use those words. My biggest hate is when women use the phrase "on the blob" 🤮 that is beyond vile.

Blossomandbee · 23/08/2021 11:57

Condom is a stupid word.

Phalange.
Minge

I hate when DH describes a bad mood as 'being eggy' Angry

Also hate the use of lush too!

daisyjgrey · 23/08/2021 13:11

@ImAddictedToMyPhone

I haven't heard any of those words being said before. Hmm

You've never heard the word "flannel"....?
