Bit of a random one but I need a new iPhone and don't know where to start - help!

Showing my age here! Any ladies who know about this stuff please help!

I would like a newer/better iPhone than I currently have. I have an iPhone 7 Plus (bigger model as I read a lot on my phone - don't we all!)

I would like something new but not necessarily the most recent with lots of storage space and which takes great photos. Which model will offer me best value for money and which provider? I'd prefer not to pay more than £40 p/month but guess I can be flexible.

What are my options if I bought the phone upfront?

I’ve had a look in their website and they don’t have my phone there but they do have this offer on the iPhone 12 - as others have said it might be worth waiting till the 13 comes out and the price will come down. If you can get to one of their shops the sales assistants can often knock money off - I’ve had some really good deals through them, been with o2 many years now (I’m rural and it’s the only provider that offers good coverage where we are).
