Under 16s on domestic flights UK - no passport required

Online it states children under 16 don’t need a passport if they are travelling with an adult. The adult will need to have the required valid photo ID. Has anyone been challenged/asked for their child’s passport?

No, never

We fly between London and Belfast using a combination of the various airports at both, and have never once been asked for any ID for children

With Aer Lingus, we get asked about one in 5 flights for adult ID, and slightly more often with EasyJet, always at the gate to cross check with the name on the boarding pass. They’ll take a driving licence or passport
Never been asked with BA unless we are checking in bags (but never at the gate)

My SIL and her kids fly the same route a few times a year also, and the kids don’t even have passports..!

Flown a few times domestically with preschool/primary age children on easyJet - always asked for our ID as adults but never the children.

(Our children don’t have passports or photo ID.)

My husband flies from Wales to Scotland with my daughter and we don't have a passport for her

Thank you everyone, that’s put my mind at ease and I’m going to book our flights! Grin
