Without going into too much detail, when DS is older he might need a job that he can do home (due to health reasons)

Looking for ideas of the type of things he could do. He's a bright lad, predicted A's at gcse. Many thanks.

DH works from home as a software developer. He did a Computer Science degree, which can be quite versatile for getting jobs and a lot of tech jobs are currently staying as or moving to more remote working lately.

I work for a firm of insurance brokers. We're all working from home.

Could I ask what qualifications are needed for these jobs too please?

I believe DH took Maths, Further Maths and Computing for A level (got A grades), then the Computer Science degree. So high grades and hard work but lots of job opportunities and at degree level you can choose various modules to focus on depending on what you find interesting.
If your DS has any interest in computers or tech, I’d also recommend doing independent research and learning the basics of some coding languages (plenty of places to learn online for free) as it really helps.

I know loads of people in IT with jobs wfh.

DP is a data analyst, wfh since Covid and in the future. I’ve wfh for donkey’s years, variously as: editor, proofreader, content writer, journalist, blah blah.

Tech is a good field for WFH; lots of start-ups have distributed workforces and include home-office funding in their benefits package.

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 22/08/2021 12:36

I work in Info Security, Governance and Risk.

Generally IT roles especially software development or cyber security are easy to recruit as home based.

I'm a lawyer and currently wfh although will be expected to head back into the office 50% of the time eventually. But I know some lawyers who work 100% from home.

IT. I’ve been able to work from home long before Covid, not surprisingly.

I‘M not technical at all, work in marketing, have also done sales before. I imagine most entry level marketing roles would be hybrid role these days.

Why does he want to work from home? You gain a lot, especially early in your career from being around other people.
