Something else to worry about .Just read the champing.co.uk/what-is-champing/faqs/ thread ( who knew there was such a thing ) and this was discussed .

I always strip the beds and fold every thing but it seems that this can be actively discouraged .

What do hosts/cleaners prefer ?

Watching with interest, we stay overnight a lot. I always strip the used bedding and leave folded in a pile on the end of the bed, anything unused does not get touched.

We’ve just stayed at a holiday cottage and due to covid there were detailed instructions on what to do on departure day. We were asked to strip the beds and put the linen into laundry bags provided. Same with the towels. We were also asked to load the dishwasher but not set it off or empty it on our last day.

Host here. I prefer the beds not stripped. That way I can clearly see any makeup/fake tan stains that need dealing with. I can also see that all the linen etc is still there - had a few pillows and covers go walkabout over the years...
I also tend to slightly wonder what is being hidden when the beds have been stripped (wee/vomit!).

During Covid, all the AirB&Bs I’ve stayed in have stated guests must strip bedding and bag it before leaving, presumably because their cleaners have stated it as a Covid-safe requirement. Outwith that, I usually don’t strip, but fold back the duvet, plump pillows, make it look vaguely tidy rather than a rumpled heap.

I am an Airbnb host. I prefer beds not stripped, it’s easier to check for marks, stains, rips, buttons come off, etc that I have to deal with. I don’t care if they are made or not.

Towels that have been used to be left in an obvious pile, and unused ones left untouched. If they’ve been moved or re-folded I have to assume that they need laundering.

Last two years at a Park dean site we have had too strip the beds and put the used bedding into the plastic bags provided.

I'd never stripped a bed in a holiday rental before Covid. Since Covid we've stayed in places where the specific instructions were to strip beds and place all linen in bags provided. We stayed on a canal boat last Autumn where they are virtually on the boat cleaning before you've left the car park so we saw the chap in the high tech face mask go onto the boat, remove the bags of bed linen then go into the boat with a fogging machine whilst the cleaners waited with their equipment on the outside.
