Do you advance buy clothes for your kids for the next couple of years?

I’m an avid secondhand shopper & can’t resist a bargain!

My DD is 3 but I already have some (not loads) clothes for ages 5/6 - I don’t specifically look for them but if I see a bargain or something I love I sometimes buy it and put it aside. She’s very tall so to be fair is already in age 4 clothes.

Appreciate not everyone could afford to do this, but wondering if it’s common or if I am a bit crazy?

I won’t buy too far ahead as appreciate she’ll reach a point where she wants to choose for herself.

Not really but I do have hand me downs a few sizes ahead and occasionally buy something in the sale a couple of sizes ahead. Like when dc3 was 1 there was a beautiful dress age 4 reduced from 30 something to £4 so I got that and kept it in her wardrobe. She wore it last summer and this summer and may get away with wearing it next summer depending how much she grows! Also if there’s a real bargain in a charity shop but that’s rare round here.

None of my children have ever needed every size (dc 1&2 were both still wearing age 6 tshirts aged 10 for example) so I wouldn’t buy a full wardrobe ahead.
